I believe there are only two chests in this cave (in the section with the bears); the third treasure icon on the map points to a barrel that contains a magic ring (e.g. Ring of Icebolts). Great bear of fire?

This article has claimed (since its creation in 2006) that one of the bears can shoot fireballs out of its mouth. I gave all three bears the opportunity to do so, but I couldn't get any of them to breathe fire - including the one that contains the Ring of Wizard's Fire when you finally kill it.

Is this maybe a leveled, or small-probability thing? I am pretty sure I had never gone into Legge before I first entered it at level 51.

I am on PC, 1.6.1820 (Morrowind + Tribunal + Bloodmoon, bought from GOG in spring 2022). I am also playing under OpenMW 0.46 on Linux, rather than morrowind.exe on Windows. 73.185.239.90 03:38, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Checking in the Construction Set, two of the three bears in Legge are Editor ID BM_bear_black while the third is BM_bear_black_fat; it is the latter bear which carries the Wizard's Ring of Fire. None of these bears have an inherent ability to shoot fireballs (the only spell attached to each bear is regenerate [ability], which regenerates 1-5 health on self). From the wording of the note in the article, it appears that the editor who added the information was under the impression that carrying the ring conferred the ability to shoot fireballs on the last bear. This is dubious at best; not only can creatures not use items (the ring's enchantment is "Cast When Used"), the ring's enchantment casts a Drain Health spell, not a fireball. Given the lack of evidence, I have removed the information from the article. If anyone has had a different experience (in an unmodded vanilla game) please post here and describe the circumstances under which it occurred. I visited the cave today and the bear shot a spell at me (BM_bear_black_fat). When I checked its inventory, I saw that the charge on the drain health ring was 32/40. My game is modded though (unofficial patch and a few others).--78.192.227.87 22:38, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
