Malfunctioning Magical Items

Speak to Razzada the Resplendent at his open-air quarters behind the Synod Conclave, and he will ask you to collect some payments that he is owed by three Bruma residents. Roland Wickhart, Ila the Upright and Stantus Faleria all purchased enchanted items from him and have yet to settle their bills.

Roland will prove most tractable: he quickly apologises for forgetting to pay and will hand over his coin purse. However, upon speaking to the other customers, it soon becomes apparent that Razzada is something of a charlatan.

Ila will complain bitterly when you come knocking, but will eventually relent: "Ah, yes. The "enchanted horse hay" he sold me. Pfft! What a joke! The only thing magical about the hay was that it caught on fire. Very easily. My horses clippity-clop over it and boom, it goes up in smoke. Nearly burnt down my stable! Well, I managed to get some use out of it as a way of getting rid of pests... pretty fun to use, too... but he did still swindle me. Here, take the coin back to Razzada. But tell him to check that his "enchanted items" actually do what they say they do next time."

Stantus will prove the hardest to convince; he will initially brush you off: "I purchased one of Razzada's... what did he call them... pleasure candles. Yes, that's it. He said it would make the customers enjoy their Jerall View experience more. In reality, it just clogged the nose. So much so that a few of my regulars nearly choked to death. So no, I don't think I'll be giving him his money." You will need to pass an Average speech challenge before being able to successfully persuade or intimidate Stantus in handing over the cash.

Once you've collected all the cash, return to Razzada, who will initially try to skimp off paying you your just reward. When pressed, he will present you with a spell tome: Cowardly Zombie Thrall. As the name suggests, the spell is totally useless: the zombie will simply flee combat when summoned.

Notes

• Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage CYRBrumaFF03 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest CYRBrumaFF03.
