"Oh! You're here to climb the tower? Just keep in mind you will find what you need for each puzzle on the same floor. Don't go running up and down stairs wondering where to go. Just keep looking. In exchange for that info, please, don't be too rough with my friends. They're supposed to slow you down, but they're not really fighters. Good luck!"

Alternatively, when you speak to him again he will say the same thing but shortened:

"Oh! You're here to climb the tower? Good luck!"

When you have reached the final room:

"You made it! Brold will be pleased. I thought you might give up because of all the Skeevers. Anyhow, we put together a little reward. I do hope you like it. There still might be something to find, so feel free to look around."
