The Black Forge is a massive facility in southeastern Coldharbour. The arms and armor that Molag Bal's troops bear are forged here,[1][2] as are innumerable tools used in the Daedric Prince's schemes.[2] Notably, the Dark Anchors and the Great Shackle were constructed here.[2][3][4] Ebony-alloy cold-iron is a powerful material used in construction at the Black Forge, and the secret to smithing with it is a secret closely guarded by the higher-ranking Dremora (formally referred to as "Overkyn") assigned there.[4]
The Black Forge is also where Black Forge Iron Senches were created. This unique form of Iron Atronach is composed of ebony-alloy iron and bound into the form of a senche for use as a mount.[5]
It is incredibly dangerous to work within the Black Forge. Many of the Soul-Shriven thralls assigned here only last a few shifts.[4]
