Lore:Book of the Leaves
The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995
The Book of the Leaves is a Druidic tome detailing some of their beliefs and traditions tied to Y'ffre. Known excerpts mention beasts summoned by Y'ffre, such as the Oldefire Elk and Harvestleaf Lynx, a Hearthfire's chosen champion,[1][2] and alchemical rites performed in Glimmertarn that are said to channel Y'ffre's blessings.[3]
Known Excerpts[edit]
- When trees shrug off their colorful mantles, druids gather around a lynx summoned by Y'ffre. While they sing chants, the God of Song and Forest transforms the feline into a steed. Only a Hearthfire champion may claim such a mount.[1]
- On the first night of Hearthfire, folks all over the Systres burn blessed oldefire logs. The smoke mingles with the soughing of leaves, giving form to spirits unseen the rest of the year. They take the form of loyal elk steeds.[2]
- Druid chants drift through the air as one of their number drinks deeply of the glowwine. Slowly, the alchemy spreads throughout the body and skin, suffusing it with the amaranthine-hued blessing of the God of Song and Forest.[3]
