Lore:Carvain
The Carvains are a noble Imperial family associated with the city of Bruma. The family are Nibenean Heartlanders and were the rulers of County Bruma at the end of the Third Era.
History[edit]
Queen Euraxia Tharn of Rimmen employed one Captain Carvain as a knight during the Euraxian occupation of Northern Elsweyr. He was slain during an assault on Star Haven Adeptorium circa 2E 582.[1][2]
By the end of the Third Era, Countess Narina Carvain served as the ruler of County Bruma. She was noted as a respected ruler and dutiful chapelgoer, but was known as a cunning and ruthless negotiator due to her reputation for sharp dealing and treachery.[3] She had a great interest in collecting Akaviri artifacts, and funded an expedition to the then-lost Pale Pass circa 3E 433 to recover the Draconian Madstone.[4] She was also the first Cyrodilic ruler to recognize Martin Septim as Emperor, when he led the Defense of Bruma against the forces of Mehrunes Dagon during the Oblivion Crisis.[5]
The Fourth Era nobleman Marcius Carvain served as Viscount Bruma. He is known for authoring An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim, wherein he recounts the many Stones of Fate he encountered on his journeys throughout the province of Skyrim.[6]
Circa 4E 201, Plautis Carvain and his wife Salonia Carvain set out from Cyrodiil on foot to reach Solitude in time for the wedding of Vittoria Vici and Asgeir Snow-Shod. The couple hoped to convince the bride to use her connections with the East Empire Company to secure an import deal, with the ultimate goal of gaining an audience with Vittoria's cousin, Emperor Titus Mede II. Despite hiring an armed bodyguard, the couple never made it to the wedding, having encountered a myriad of dangers along the road.[7][8]
