Faolan's Ire is a landmark in the southeastern parts of the Reach, north of Gloomreach and Lost Valley Redoubt and west of Hroldan Ring at the banks of the Karth River.[1]

History[edit]

Faolan's Ire ca. 4E 201

The area was named after ancient Reachfolk king Faolan and was once a site of the battlefield between two warring clans: Eagleseer Clan and the Six-Ford Clan. Since times long forgotten, those two clans fought against each other.[2] The battlefield was marked with a cairn to commemorate the grim event.[3] During the battle, one of the clans lost a piece of an ancient relic known as the Lover's Coil, a totem that is tied to the history of the Six-Ford and Eagleseer clans, as well as the source of their ancient rivalry. The second part was lost during the more known event, the Battle of Karthspire Lea.[4]

Both parts were recovered in 2E 582 by an interloper in an affair that involved both the Eagleseers and Six-Fords. They found the part of the relic in the Faolan's Ire,[5] which became the site of a giant's camp.[3] The ancient relic was reassembled not long after both pieces were found.[1]

As of 4E 201, during the Nordic occupation of the Reach, the location is desolated and no longer inhabited by Giants.[6]
