History[edit]

Manor of Masques

Ingress was most likely born in a noble house of Summerset Isles, under another name. Before the foundation of the House of Reveries, she was a simple mer of great passion. According to many her ever-growing love for performance was nurtured by her father. She felt a kinship towards all the performers, from all backgrounds - from the humblest peasants to the greatest of names. She appreciated all forms of the beloved art, whether it was the drama of a great monologue of old or the merriment of a simple juggling act.[1]

For a time this brought her happiness, but as she grew older she realized that only a few held true love for their craft. She began to realize that these mer saw the arts as a means to elevate themselves to positions of power and notoriety and to become privileged and renowned. Although it brought her immense pain, soon after realization she withdrew from the world of performance. In seclusion, she sought a way that could allow artists to focus on creating art out of their love for art and their passion and their passion alone. Determined to make a difference, eventually, she found a way to make her dream come true. She cast aside her own name and renounced her old identity, to become the Grand Maestro Ingress. She gathered a group of like-minded companions and created the House of Reveries. Ingress declared that all her players must wear masks and take up new names in order to forsake any attempts to climb up the ranks of the Summerset society. She believed that every performer should live for their art, not fame or fortune.[1][2]

She was remembered as a leader of extraordinary vision, noble intentions, and significant wealth. There were many plays, poems, and songs dedicated to her honor, all telling the same tale of her dedication and passion for the art of performance. The dedication of the first Grand Maestro grew from the need for change: a distaste of the old rather than stemming from a need to create something new.[1]

As of 2E 582 at least two other members of the House of Reveries held the position of the Grand Maestro - Forte, and an unknown female artist who led the troupe before him.[3]
