Lore talk:Statues
The Article[edit]
This page uses several ".statue" custom CSS classes to display the images and tables. This need to be taken into account if additional images need to be added. If you're not sure how it works, just ask.
Also, the layout has been optimized to use 1:1 aspect ratio images (ideally). Mobile view can be improved, and I might redo the entire CSS and use a flexbox framework at some point, but that's for another time.
I've replaced or compressed and resized many images on the page and tried to get them around 200kb or lower and about 1000px square, as page load is quite heavy. First-time page load is brutal, but once the images are cached into memory the load times are better. I've run several load time tests through Chrome and tweaked what I can. I did consider splitting this page up into several pages, but given the nature and theme of the page I think that would be a disservice to the article and I'd like to avoid that. Ideally, future images added to this page should either be low-res versions or optimized as it's almost visually indistinguishable. Compression can make a significant difference to load times, sometimes reducing the image size by 90%, which adds up when you have so many images on a single page - especially on mobile.--Jimeee (talk) 18:34, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
Purpose?[edit]
I'm not sure as to the purpose of this article. It doesn't really seem to be an article about statues, but rather a showcase gallery of multiple different examples of statues. If it is indeed intended as the latter, I could see "Lore:Statues" being more of an index page (like Lore:Wars and similar) which explains the cultural relevance of statuary, and then different examples having their own pages. This would also help break the page up a bit, as it's in the Top 10 of LongPages. --Enodoc (talk) 22:29, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
