An account of Aurilie's imprisonment in the Count's castle

For a whole week now I've been sitting here in this cell. I miss my father. He's all alone without me. It's still not clear to me why the Count can hold me here. But I overheard the guards' conversation; they are afraid. The Count has been very closed off for some time and is prone to fits of rage. He has probably already killed some of his servants in anger.

Today, the Count was with me. His eyes scare me; it is the expression of madness, that speaks from his eyes. He told me I would play a significant role in his rise. What does he mean? I am a virtuous girl - I hope he does not abuse me for any crazed ritual.

The guards dragged past some dead bodies by my cell door. They were mauled. I could read fear in the guards' eyes. And they look at me so strangely.

The count stands in front of the cell ... he is smeared all over with blood. I'm afraid. Please, if someone-
