Will my computer be able to run Oblivion at absolute max settings?[edit]
Hi, I was wondering if a computer with these specs could run Oblivion at the absolute highest possible settings, and still give me a decent FPS.
- Intel Core i7-950 Quad-Core CPU 3.06GHz
- PNY GeForce GTS 450 1GB PCI-E Video Card
- Coolmax 600 Watt Power Supply (VL-600B)
- Hitachi 500GB 3.5" Desktop Internal Hard Drive (HD30500 IDK/7K)
- LG 24x DVDRW Internal Drive (GH24NS50)
- Mushkin 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Desktop Memory (996769)
- Apex Vortex ATX Mid-Tower (3620)
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- Intel Socket 1156 Motherboard (DH55HC)
I want to be able to run the game on Ultra High, with all sliders at max. I need to be able to get 30-45 FPS with little to no stuttering, and still be able to install any graphics mods in the future without too many problems. I also want to be able to partake in large battles (ie the one at the begginning of the great gate quest) without major frame rate drops. Thanks in advance. 24.150.126.194 15:11, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- It'll run at very high settings, but not with all the graphics mods you might want. Your machine is slightly more powerful than mine (my CPU is quad-core ~2.40GHz but everything else is similar) and although I can run everything on the high settings, if I install RAEVD things start to slow when there's lots of water around (due to reflections), and Quarl's Texture Pack really makes things chug. It'll still be usable, but you won't get 30-45 FPS everywhere. rpeh •T•C•E• 16:33, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

- A bit late to the post, but for anyone else wondering what works, I started played the game again last month. I have an i7 860 quad core (2.8 GHz minimum frequency, higher with Turbo) and a HD4870 1GB card (comparable, but a smidge faster than the GTS450) and I was able to use stuff like Qarls Texture Pack and play at 1920x1080 with 4xAA and 16xAF without a hitch. The lowest FPS I registered was in the vicinity of 40 frames. 193.215.199.34 14:26, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Skinning?[edit]
Something interesting is happening while I play Oblivion. If I play the game for a longer period of time, some NPCs will start to lose their hair. Interestingly enough, this only happens to NPCs that are inside 'houses' (such as Fighters guild, various stores etc.) not to NPCs outside. Also, they lose their hair but will regain it from time to time only to lose it again afterwards and then regain it again etc. Does anyone know why this is happening? My PC's configuration> AMD Athlon XP 2500+, 512MB RAM, ASUS Radeon X1650 256MB. I'm using all of the add-ons and all of the official and unofficial patches. Also, I am also using Stutter Remover plug-in. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking it's because of RAM memory, but I'm not sure. - Given that behaviour, my first thought would be the stutter remover. I'd try removing that and see if the problem still occurs. Apart from that, it could also be some faulty setting. If you've played with Oblivion.ini at all, make a backup of it and let the game create a new one. It'll be a nuisance getting all your in-game settings back the way you want them, but a clean Oblivion.ini file can solve a lot of issues if you've been playing around with it. – Robin Hood↝talk 02:01, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Online Registrations?[edit]
Does Oblivion (pc, non goty verision) have any drm that requires an internet conection at any point in time? This includes having to register it once online. I don't choose to connect my gaming pc to the web, so any knowledge on this would be much appreciated. --Playerjjjj 18:55, 24 June 2012 (UTC)Playerjjjj
Windows 8?[edit]
Anyone tested Oblivion with Windows 8 yet? 172.12.96.180 23:23, 20 May 2013 (GMT)
