After you've lit the signal fires in Varen's Watch, you can exit the fort and look for Captain Abitius and her squad. Her group will be nearby, and they are questioning their defiant captive Larchisse:
- Legionary Domitius Cedus: "Why attack Varen's Watch, Elf? How many warriors do you have in there?"
- Larchisse: "The Recollection easily took your silly fortress!"
- Legionary Domitius Cedus: "Damn Wood Elf!"
- <Legionary Domitius Cedus walks away in frustration and notices the lit fires at Varen's Watch.>
- Legionary Domitius Cedus: "Hey, the signal fires! They're lit!"
- Larchisse: "What? That's impossible!"
- Legionary Domitius Cedus: "We are the Legion! Anything's possible!"
Speaking with him before Captain Abitius:
- "Halt. We're practically at war here. You can't just wander into our camp unannounced! Go! Talk to the captain this instant!"
After speaking with Captain Abitius but before completing the quest he will say:
- "Damn Wood Elf won't tell us a thing! If the captain let's [sic] me, I can make her talk!"
After speaking with Captain Abitius and completing the quest, he will say the following:
- Legionary Domitius Cedus: "We'll see if this Recollection fanatic's tongue loosens up when the Legion reinforcements arrive. Varen's Watch will be ours again in no time!"
Talking to him afterwards, he will mourn the death of Legionary Thania, the soldier you found Captain Abitius's Orders with:
- "I should have been in there with her … stubborn soldier. But brave.
Anyway, you've done more than your share. The Legion will take it from here."
