Sondgruul is a Nord scholar found in the Whispering Axe Tavern in Morthal. He has been an aspiring albeit unsuccessful bard for years, not making any money from his performances and having been turned down by the Bards College.

"It's tricky, isn't it? The lute?
It looks so simple, but I've been trying for years and I'm not making any coin from playing. The Masters at the Bards College said I wasn't ready. But, how am I supposed to get better if they don't teach me?"

"Do you know someone at the Bards College? Can you put in a good word for me?
I've been working so hard trying to figure out the strings and … music … sounds. But no one I've asked will teach me! So many songs are stuck in my head."
