"Oh, please! Don't encourage him. The earthquakes upset everyone. And that fissure's been here for years. The rest of us have adjusted; why can't he?"

Maybe he just needs more time.

"The fissure appeared four years ago. Four years! I'm sick of hearing about how he senses things others don't, that he should have been a mage. Either he stops this madness or I'm leaving!"
