Argonian, not Bosmer[edit]
Hello friends, I am not sure what Ranger's Crocskin Overkilt is doing on the Bosmer page. It is clearly an Argonian style costume, as you can tell from the description referencing the Saxhleel. It does appear correctly on the Argonian page.
Obviously I can't fix this because the page is generated from templates. baratron (talk) 02:11, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
- The problem with this costume is it looks like it was "designed" for Bosmer release-wise, but Jaxa the Hermit (an Argonian artist) is the designer, so there is no solid "one or the other" with this costume. The Deepwoods Podsinger Tunic and the Treethane's Mosaic Jerkin are the "tier one" (500 Crowns) and "tier three" (1,000 Crowns) costumes in this "line", which is a themed set of costumes designed for male Bosmer (the last statement is used loosely; when we get costumes designed with a particular culture in mind, we usually get two sets, one more typically feminine or marketed in-universe towards women, and the other androgynous/masculine or marketed in-universe towards men).
- Each line of cultural garb typically gets 3 outfits: a cheap one that runs for 500 Crowns, a more "high class" or fancier one for 700 Crowns, and an ostentatious or undoubtedly "designed for the nobility" costume that runs for 1,000 Crowns. This lineup is the ""masculine"" (again, loose terms) counterpart to the Graht-Climber's Active Wear/Doeskin Chamois Woodswear/Treethane's Ceremonial Dress lineup. All three items (the jerkin, the overkilt, and the tunic) were datamined the same year, came out in the same timeframe, and are all modeled by male Bosmer in their promotional renders, as is typical for most costumes inspired by a particular culture (with race and gender dependent on the clothing line, etc).
- Usually, when we get cultural garb as a costume, it's designed by someone of the race the clothing comes from. Not so for the Ranger's Crocskin Overkilt. While this is ostensibly a Bosmer clothing item, it could also feasibly work as a Saxhleel item, and was indeed designed by an Argonian. The Overkilt also seems to be intended to share its namesake with the Vinedusk Rangers, and the only NPCs I can recall seeing it on are male Bosmer in new zones like Blackwood. Given this costume's unique situation, I put it in both categories. -MolagBallet (talk) 08:53, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
