Leigelf is a Nord miner who owns the Quicksilver Mine in Dawnstar. He is married to Beitild, the owner of Iron-Breaker Mine. Although the couple lives in separate houses, their relationship has turned into a feud, to much regret of their workers. He will buy any quicksilver ore that you bring him.
Leigelf owns a house in the center of Dawnstar and sleeps there every night between midnight and 6am. After a one-hour breakfast on his porch he goes back to bed for another hour. At 8am he heads up to his mine and spends the day working the smelter alongside his employee Lond, interrupted only by one-hour meals on the porch at noon and 7pm. At 8pm he heads back to his house where he wanders around until bedtime.
He wears a set of miner's clothes and a pair of boots, and is equipped with a pickaxe. He carries a key to his house and a selection of common loot and gold.

Dialogue[edit]
When you greet him, he can say:
- "Quicksilver Mine is the best mine in Dawnstar, and you can tell those Iron-Breaker miners I said so."
- "If it's about the mine, I'm all ears."
- "My wife Beitild is dead. Can't say I miss that old sabre cat." (If Beitild is dead)
If you have not completed the quest Waking Nightmare, he can be found saying:
- "What is it? I haven't had much sleep."
- Why aren't you getting much sleep?
- "It's these nightmares. Me and every one of my workers can't catch a nod without having one. They're almost... real. They say a priest of Mara has arrived in town. We'll see if faith can cure this curse."
If you approach him directly:
- I'm looking for work.
- "If you don't mind digging, I own the Quicksilver Mine. It's a better life than working in that damned Iron-Breaker Mine with all those milk drinkers."
- Who runs Dawnstar?
-
- "Brina Merilis came in with the whole damn Legion and deposed Skald. Couldn't have happened to a better man." (If Dawnstar is taken by the Imperial Legion)
Conversations[edit]
He may have conversations with his worker Lond:
- Lond: "If you don't mind me saying, Leigelf. You're working too hard. Go home."
- Leigelf: "Never. Not until we turn this mine around, drive Beitild out of business, and force her to apologize to me for everything she's done!"
- Lond: "What is this feud you have with your wife? What started this?"
- Leigelf: "I don't want to talk about it."
- Lond: "You don't want to talk about it, or you don't know?"
- Leigelf: "I don't want to talk about it."
- Leigelf: "Thank you for sticking by me."
- Lond: "Where else would I go? Dawnstar is my home and working here is my job."
- Leigelf: "It's good to hear you say that. I wish my wife was as simple as you."
- Lond: "I'll, uh, just take that as a compliment."
Unused Dialogue[edit]
Leigelf has unused dialogue tied to the unfinished quest FreeformDawnstarA
he was once meant to play a role in. This dialogue can only be found in the game's DialogueViews files, and not the Creation Kit.
It seems that this quest could be started by talking to either Beitild or Leigelf, and both would talk about their feud. Leigelf would say:
- You and your wife are fighting?
- "She kicked me out of the house a few moons ago. Started driving me out of business. Well, I'm better off without that old hag pushing me around. I'll get the mine turned around in no time."
You could then come across a journal in Leigelf's house, containing his true feelings for his wife. You could bring it to either Beitild or Leigelf:
- I found this journal in your house.
- "What are you doing with my journal? Give it back."
-
- It says here that you still love Beitild.
- "Well, maybe I do. Maybe I miss that bossy old sabrecat. But I'm not letting her run me out of business. My pride is on the line. Now give me back my journal." (Possibly a passed persuasion check)
- "Give me back my journal. Now." (Failed variant)
-
-
- Not until you talk to your wife about this.
- "Forget it. I... I... Maybe you're right. Maybe this feud has gone on long enough. Thank you. I'll talk to Beitild."
-
-
-
- Fine. None of my business, anyway.
- "Damn right it was none of your business. Now leave me alone."
-
It can be assumed that by the end of this quest, the feud between the two would be resolved, but the consequences for the mines or its employees are unknown.
Notes[edit]
- The Prima Official Game Guide refers to him as Leigelf Quicksilver, implying the mine bears his clan name, rather than being named after the type of ore found inside.
