Suggestions for new segments
Can anyone add a new segment to the Did you know section?--Arch-Mage Matt 22:01, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

- Correct me if I'm wrong, but the necromancy wasn't banned by Mages Guild during action of TES4:Oblivion? - ZuTheSkunk 10:30, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, but it was not banned by the Tamaril Government. The Mages Guild has no power to pass law, only regulate its own members. Jadrax 10:39, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Morrowind
Today (15th September) Morrowind was the featured article on Wikipedia. Maybe worth a mention?

- It's vaguely interesting, but I don't think the fact that another wiki has highlighted a page is newsworthy. Our own coverage of Morrowind is rather more extensive after all! rpeh •T•C•E• 09:02, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

TES V oblivion sequel
How credible is this rumour?
I dont think it has enough validity to be put on the main page.
I read the link and the idea that TES V will just follow oblivion and feature Mehrunes Dagon is to me laughable. I dont believe it at all.
1) The oblivion storyline is closed, Mehrunes is not coming back, otherwise what is the point of Martin's sacrifice?
2) Also, because the infernal city books have been declared canon we already know a bit about what happened after oblivion. It doesnt fit with this rumour.
3) Because of the infernal city books I find it highly unlikely that TES V will take place before them. It is far more likely that they are a bridge between TES IV and V.
--Merari 17:52, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- The rumour doesn't say anything about Dagon being the antagonist, or even being involved. Only that the events of the game will imediately follow on from Oblivion. Jayden Matthews 17:57, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
-
- We're just reporting a rumor from a reputable source. It doesn't mention Mehrunes Dagon - it mentions "Dragon Lord" and the Blades, which could be seen as suggesting an Akaviri connection. Further, nothing in the rumor says that it the game couldn't fit in between the events of Oblivion and the events of TIC - there's roughly 40 years to work with and not too much stuff to fit into the gap. The player take a role in Titus Mede's ascent to the throne or in the split of the Mages Guild into the Synod and College of Whispers. You might be an early operative in the Penitus Oculatus. Gather supplies to help expand Ione. In short, it would be easy to fit a game into what we know and leave plenty of space for other things. rpeh •T•C•E• 18:11, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
I see:) Thanks for the explanation, I think I misread 'dragon' as 'dagon'. I still think it would be more likely for TES V to take place after the infernal city, but you never know. The Akaviri have been prominent in lore for a long time now, and it would be interesting to see more of them. --Merari 01:31, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

He is <name>, Dragon Born!
The official spelling of the name announced as "Dragon Born" appears to be Dovahkiin, as found by watching the video with subtitles in other languages. Not "Novak'leen" as it is currently spelled in the front page announcement. Arthmoor 07:14, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Skyrim:Skyrim
Well with the official announcement of Skyrim, what is stopping the creation of the Skyrim section? It can be started by pulling the tidbits of info we know from the lore in other games to make pages for cities and such. — Unsigned comment by Stouf761 (talk • contribs) on December 15, 01:55 (UTC)
- The fact we wouldn't have anything to say stops the creation. It would be of poor quality. Besides, you can't tell what the game will be like, for all we know, dragons burned down all of Skyrim. You can't tell now, and we won't. Let's wait till it actually comes out. Sign your posts please ~ Dwarfmp 02:16, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- EDIT: Besides, if anything is worth mentioning it will be on the Main Page. ~ Dwarfmp 02:19, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
-
- The page will be created at some point soon enough. At the moment all we know for sure is the name and the date of release, along with the fact it'll use a new engine. Oh, and it's the 5th game. Doesn't make for much of a page really. Anything beyond that is speculation, and doesn't warrant a place on UESP. rpeh •T•C•E• 10:53, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Notice on Main Page?
Could we add something to the main page asking users to please not add speculation about Skyrim (Game)? I think that it might cut down on things like "This might be a reference to dragons as enemies in Skyrim, as they are described as "No-one Believed They Existed" and make it so that we don't have to salt Skyrim: pages that people make for speculation.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 22:47, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- We could, but I don't think it's worth it. Notices like "On talk pages, please sign your name with four tildes", sic tags, and comments telling people not to change "Epony" to "Ebony" on a Morrowind quest don't work so I very much doubt a note on a page will stop anything. rpeh •T•C•E• 00:40, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
Gameinfomer Magazine screenshots!!!
Why has no-one covered this this is front page worthy news
SCREEN SHOTS OF SKYRIM CAN BE FOUND AT http://twitpic.com/photos/Wo33er PLUS A TON OF INFO
i really think this should be on the front page or at least something about the gameinformer article even if it is on Skyrim. Varus Vantinius 07:21, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- As cool as it is to have screen shots floating around, they just aren't high enough quality to warrant posting on the site, not to mention possible copyright issues (of which I have zero expreience in, so don't quote me on that one :)) stemming from the fact that they're pulled straight from the magazine. The News thread has information on the Game Informer feature and the behind the scenes video, but that's about the best we can hope for until quality shots are made available. Dlarsh(T,C) 07:33, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- so you wont even put a link to the shots and update that the magazine is out, or update the skyrim page with TONES of info like dual wielding and mystcism being taken out, people would really like to know this and putting a link and updating the sources isnt going to break copywrite, they even talk about a new radiant AI system you should actually READ the articles on the pics Varus Vantinius 09:18, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- We will probably put it up if they put up the article on game informer itself. If it came from any other source we will have to worry about quality, reliability, and availability (as it likely breaks copyright laws it can easily be taken down). In the mean time we're waiting, so calm down. We will all learn about it eventually and until Skyrim is released to the public it doesn't seem to be a high priority on the wiki, and it won't be until we have it in our hands. The reason we do not have a Skyrim page is that until the game is released any information will likely be widely innacurate. For example look at this video about Oblivion's radiant AI from [[1]] Youtube. Noticed how that AI is much, much, much better and realistic than the one packaged in the game? That is why we aren't spreading rumors like school girls. We will embarrass ourselves in retrospect. Alpha Kenny Buddy 18:44, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

- It's not going to happen. Posting (or linking to) the scans is a copyright violation. Mxk101 18:51, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- okay fine, whatever but seriously not "a high priority on the wiki"? correct me if im wrong but this wiki is about the elder scrolls so why does an article about a RUMOR that the next ES is gonna be a sequel to oblivion more of a priority than solid evidence (this isnt fake too many ppl have posted the pages) and tones of new info about the real next game. i also bet that you reported on those AI systems before oblivion, and spreading rumors like school girls? grow up, there was a whole news article about a stupid rumor that in "retrospect" does make you look "embarrassing", now im not familiar with copywrite so i wont challenge you on that but ive seen plenty of links in this wiki leading to pics and such, i think this news deserves at least a mention for people to google the pages or just inform them there out. so ending on a calm note, thankyou Varus Vantinius 15:52, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- The important information has been added to the Skyrim article already, which is where it belongs. The news article about the "stupid rumor" that "in "retrospect" does make you look "embarrassing"" turned out to be 100% correct - it is a sequel to Oblivion, and if you read the link, there is indeed someone called the Dragonborn. rpeh •T•C•E• 17:03, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

This is just a minor suggestion, but I think instead of having a link to Vivec in the FA above the excerpt, we should just now link the bold/first instance of it like Wikipedia. Looks a little cleaner, IMO. Elliot (talk) 00:23, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

It was easy enough with Syl and Journey to Aetherius because we could start the first sentence with the link name. This one is a bit trickier, because of the quest header/giver and all that.
