Linking to Imagemap instead of map on place page[edit]

I've been thinking that it might be a better idea to add a link to these maps instead of an image on the place page itself. The maps are quite high quality and semi-interactive (not all the imagemaps are finished yet). There would be then a "view on map" in the infobox just like on Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim place pages (example). Dungeon interiors etc would still be featured on the page itself of course. Thoughts? --Ilaro (talk) 21:31, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

Using just one image of a map per province is an idea that I really like, since let's face it, there are a lot of settlements in Arena. However, my main issue with doing so is that the town/city/village in question will not be specifically highlighted, which could be annoying for some users. If anyone has a compromise or a way to use an interactive map without sacrificing the specific area being highlighted, I would be all for it. Unless there is an issue with uploading individual map pictures for each settlement, I have no issues with continuing to do so. KhajiitFromElsweyr (talk) 21:46, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
I prefer using the labeled maps we already have. This avoids the need to have roughly 256 separate maps, and the labels are much clearer. It also keeps the mouse cursor out of the image: the fewer UI elements, the better. Using one map for many pages is how lore place pages handle the problem, and I see no reason why it shouldn't be so here. The first sentence or two of the page should describe exactly where the town is within the province, so highlighting is unnecessary. —Dillonn241 (talk) 02:04, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
