Reason for Reversion[edit]
I noticed that several of the Quest and Place descriptions were getting corrupted. For instance, on the Quests page, the description for Helping Jana Livia was showing up as "Investigate a series of burglaries for a ?UNIQ5cb75a1857e3135b-cleanspace-00000003-QINU?Bal Oyra ?UNIQ5cb75a1857e3135b-cleanspace-00000004-QINU?shopkeeper." with "Bal Oyra" and "shopkeeper" being links.
After I reverted, I null-saved the quest page then the FG section of the quest page and it went back to normal. It seems as though the #save command has some issues with the cleanspace tag. It's something we're going to have to bear in mind. rpeh •T•C•E• 13:58, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Doesn't look likecleanspace
is the problem, see TR4 history. I have some work to do now but I'll try it in my sandbox later and see if I can reproduce and solve the problem. ‒ Joram↝Talk 19:26, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

- Ignore above, I missed the null save on the intermediate page. I understand the problem now. User:Nephele talks about it here. We're passing <cleanspace> tags into the description parm which act just like <nowiki> or <pre> tags. Hard to spot and deal with since you never know what could be passed into a parameter that gets #saved. It'll have to be spotted and dealt with case by case I think. The easy solution is to never use cleanspace unless necessary and just pile all the #defines together like I did at {{TR4}}. Or don't allow #save except by people who know how to use it instead of saving every time. Neither way is great. I just updated the MetaTemplate docs to outline the issue. ‒ Joram↝Talk 00:25, 22 January 2010 (UTC), 00:31, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

- Ah well done. Somehow I'd missed that whole section. It could be argued that all {{TR3}} and {{TR4}} templates should be expanded like we already do for {{MW}}, {{OB}} etc. I don't want to do that though, just in case we ever decide to move to a full namespace for those games. rpeh •T•C•E• 00:43, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
