fin gleam
it would be awesome to add fin gleam to the map its over by the abeacen sea you can look it up elsewhere67.224.73.15 12:40, 21 June 2009 (EDT)
- It is on the map; it is found here. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 12:46, 21 June 2009 (EDT)
missing areas
i noticed that some places are missing from the map, i know there is a quest that includes going to weatherleahn and its not on the map..its a lil to the north east-ish of the elven ruin of elenglynn. additionally to the west of that same ruin there is 2 spots also not on the map. Brindle home and gottiesfont priory. just trying to help out ^_^ — Unsigned comment by 75.111.92.51 (talk) on 8 July 2009
- Thanks, but Weatherleah, Brindle Home and Gottlesfont Priory are already on the map. –rpeh•T•C•E• 17:12, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm finding that Weatherleah is not visible as a marker until you get down to zoom level 15 or 16. At further distances such as Weatherleah at zoom level 14, I'm shown 12 different locations surrounding it, but Weatherleah and The nearby Wayshrine of Julianos aren't marked, until you get as close as zoom level 15. I feel that these should be visibly marked from a further distance than they currently are. Pmw57 06:13, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Blankenmarch is missing, it's just northwest of the Veyond ruins to the east of Leyawiin
Also Missinh Knights Of The Fall West Of Cheydinhal :) — Unsigned comment by 121.45.145.129 (talk) on 8 July 2010
- Assuming you mean the Knights of the Thorn Lodge, it's also there. rpeh •T•C•E• 08:17, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Wayshrines
Your missing the wayshrines used in the pilgramage. Add them please; amazing map! — Unsigned comment by 68.82.3.201 (talk) on 18 July 2009
- No, just search wayshrine and they will all be pointed out... --Elliot(T-C) 00:56, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
All of the wayshrines are there, except the Talos Wayshrines — Unsigned comment by 76.120.118.17 (talk) on 21 March 2010
- They're there too - except they're called Wayshrines of Tiber Septim. rpeh •T•C•E• 22:18, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Great!
Sorry for the spam, couldn't help it... The idea of using Google Maps for TES is ingenious! Keep up the great work :) //You might wanna delete that, I wouldn't care :D
The great oblivion gate
not sure if its just my computer but the great oblivion gate the shows up outside of Bruma is not marked. you can clearly see the the gate itself with the giant doom machine sticking out of it it just doesn't have a map marker. just found that sort of surprising seeing as its a pretty major part of the main questline. — Unsigned comment by 74.97.252.56 (talk) on 28 October 2009
- It's not you, the marker doesn't exist on the map. I'm not sure whether we should add it though, it's only a doorway on a very specific part of one particular quest. Similarly, there is no marker for the portal Boethia creates for you on the map either.
- The visuals of the Great Gate are there because of the method how the map was created, and were not intentional. --Timenn-<talk> 12:37, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Building the map - ??
I have my own wiki I am working on (none elderscolls) and I would love to deploy a google map like this, so was it very hard building a map like this, and could anyone make something like it or would I have to have some external hosting and difficult stuff like that
Birthsign (Doom?)stone Suggestion
I noticed that in searching for the Birthsign (Doom?)stones, that they are listed only by individual name, so searching can be a chore listing them individually. Would there be any way to add/change either tags, filters or some other attribute (?), or change the names so that each of the types of stones can be displayed by a category search (i.e. Birthsign, etc.)? I believe Rune Stones are one of the exceptions having "Rune"-type stone already included in the name so these can be conveniently filtered in to search results. Another option would be to do a "category" search (i.e. "stone", and filter OUT the other types (i.e. "stones"-"rune", etc.), but this seems counter-intuitive. Hope this makes sense, as currently, the only way to search is by "stone", resulting in every type of stone in the game being displayed. This can be very "messy" if you are only looking for a specific type. 74.130.82.150 13:12, 19 November 2009 (UTC) chromalfean
- That's actually a good idea. I've updated the search tags so you can find all Heaven Stones by searching for "Heaven Stone", and Birthsign Stones by searching for "Birthsign Stone". You can still list all Doom Stones by searching for "Doom Stone". --Timenn-<talk> 11:58, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
-
- thanks, keep up the great work! not to be a pain, but would it be possible to take this a step further and do other "category"-type searches? i.e. "conjurer" or "necromancer" lairs? I know there's a listing of these on the wiki, but being able to display them on the map in relation to your current world position would make searching for specific nearby "groups" a major convenience.
- edit
- just saw there was a previous similar suggestion made that got shot down, as follows ...
- "
a 3d map and dungeon types in () like atatar (necromancer)"- "
Use real model renderings to populate the map where possible."- "Adding dungeon types to the Oblivion map is pretty unlikely. Many dungeons don't have a single easy-to-identify "type". And other readers are going to be interested in other details. There's no way to add the entire wiki page to the Oblivion map; the link to the wiki page is there so that readers can find all the details."
- "Not feasible to make a 3D map."
- "
- "
- but would it really be so difficult to include a "category" search since the attributes are listed on the wiki? I found the following links helpful, but not really as convenient as a search of the map would be ...
- http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Necromancer_Dungeons
- thanks again. ~~chromalfean~~
hey u kinda messed up on vahtacen.
Hey love the map but i noticed that you put Vahtacen as a ruin and not a cave. Just thought i would let you in on that. Other than that keep up the good work. — Unsigned comment by 67.161.189.174 (talk) on 25 November 2009
- Thanks, the marker has been changed to that of a Cave, instead of that of an Ayleid ruin. --Timenn-<talk> 16:28, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Water
Maybe you could make it clearer what is water and what is land as it is diffucult to tell. — Unsigned comment by 212.32.93.124 (talk) on 27 November 2009

Map should offer full screen option. map too small to orient towns with markers when zoomed in.

- The map uses the Google Maps API so unless you can convince them to add a full-screen option, we can't help. –rpeh•T•C•E• 09:50, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- The side bar on the left could be collapsed via javascript (a little << to close, and >> to reopen should not be a problem) and Just add a note that pressing F11 in most (all?) browsers will make the browser full screen. 64.118.22.40 17:13, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Gilgalad
Double Locations
I'm not sure if this is just my browser (Opera) But when I zoom in to a location, I'll see another Icon of the same place near the original. — Unsigned comment by 70.31.93.110 (talk) on 7 January 2010
- One is the location of the entrance and the other is the location of the map marker - the place you appear when you fast-travel to a marker. I've never been quite sure why the latter markers were included. –rpeh•T•C•E• 07:18, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
a few ideas
have the ability to toggle water have item icons for items (there currently doors) have gate locations have a .jpg version of it (or something similar) have an x,y coordinate system, so we know almost exactly where to go if were looking for something like fingleam Mikeyboy52 06:35, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Almost all of those suggestions are already on the list at the top of the page. The map already displays (map). –rpeh •T•C•E• 18:40, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, my main concern was the .jpg thing, is there a .jpg version? Mikeyboy52 03:00, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- You can't have a JPG version of an interactive map. Perhaps you're looking for something like this? –rpeh •T•C•E• 09:39, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- It is possible to use a jpg to create an interactive map via flash, I have done this before, as part of a webmastering class about 3 years ago. Also, I'm in china and the "great firewall of china" as i like to call it, blocks the imerial-library for reasons unknown to me. Mikeyboy52 11:32, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

I was looking for a non-interactive (no flash or javascript), but no sweat, I found one that lists everything I need, thanks though :D Mikeyboy52 13:22, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Map Problem
Make the map show more than the city names. Such as landscape, Its just movable text right now. — Unsigned comment by 99.195.252.127 (talk) on 30 January 2010
- It already does. You have a problem with your internet connection or firewall - probably something is blocking port 81. There's nothing we can do to fix that. rpeh •T•C•E• 06:53, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Search Problem
I find it difficult to localize something after I search for it, as afterwards nothing else is labelled. Stevepoppers 05:22, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- That's kind of what a search is supposed to do, but you can show everything else by clicking the "Reset Search" link at the top right of the window. rpeh •T•C•E• 07:00, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
-
- I think Steve is having the same problem I have, namely referencing where the current location is with respect to other sites on the map. After the user searches for a location, or else navigates to one via a UESPWiki article, they get a zoomed-in result that lacks labels of key locations nearby. So they have to zoom out until they find areas that look familiar, then zoom back in to refind the location they were originally searching for. The solutionis to have city names viewable at every level of zoom and irrespective of any search parameters. It would also help to have checkboxes for basic location types that could be toggled on and off, again irrespective of search parameters. These types would include Ayleid ruins, oblivion gates and so on. 94dgrif 07:08, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Map won't load
Everytime I try to go to this map: http://content3.uesp.net/maps/obmap/obmap.shtml?locx=-91803&locy=50071 both my firefox and IE browsers tell me I need a new 'Google maps API key' and that I can get one off a link it gives me (http://code.google.com/apis/maps/.) I could not find anything here so I googled the problem and got this page:(http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html) However when I enter in the URL into the bar on this page to generate a key, it tells me that the URL I entered is invalid. Is there any other way I can view the map that I'm looking for? — Unsigned comment by 79.65.100.137 (talk) on 4 March 2010
- Why are you going to content3? If you use the normal link (http://www.uesp.net/maps/obmap/obmap.shtml?locx=-91803&locy=50071) it works fine. rpeh •T•C•E• 15:06, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
empty tree stump.
located neer market sewers entrance (non-mod) ,i think it would be a cool addition if it was shown on the map J'ri-dar 16:26, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, but this is waaaay too small to be added to the map. Plus, if we were to include EVERY single safe container, the map would be too cramped to be legible. --SerCenKing Talk 17:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
- Unless you did what other maps do, bigger dots mean more safe containers :P have a giant one over every city automatically though :P ha ha Mikeyboy52 12:58, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Suggestion
How about labeling some of the other items on the map so it is easier for landmarking and tracking area's. also maybe add in the locations of some of the animals like bears and such. — Unsigned comment by 174.52.200.224 (talk) on 9 April 2010
- What other items? All the important locations and non-random magical items are already marked (eg this). Adding animals is problematic because a) they move, and b) they aren't guaranteed because of leveling. It's something I've been thinking about trying at some point, though. rpeh •T•C•E• 10:38, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Nice work!
I find this map a very helpful tool in searching for hidden places and spaces. Thank you for putting so much time an effort into this! It has turned out great so far! Keep it up!
response to ruins problem, and another suggestion :P
you can add a tag to every ruin, and than have the search feature also look for tags or even a seprate "tag" search, so that you could also search for "mage" dungeons or "necromancer" dungeons, this would come in real handy and wouldnt mess up the links at all. three years ago i could have done it, but now the code escapes me. Mikeyboy52 12:54, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- See the response in the Completed/Rejected Suggestions section. Not all dungeons have a defined "type", so this isn't feasible. rpeh •T•C•E• 15:51, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
-
- Not so much types of dungeons as much as types of monsters/npcs, even with multiples you can have multiple tags. (for places live vilverin you could do "bandits" and "undead") i know its in rejected suggestions, but who rejects them? also, can one person really decide whats rejected and whats not? when a wikipedia is based on a communityMikeyboy52 16:18, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
-
-
- The suggestions are typically rejected by the people who did the work on the map; almost always Nephele or me. UESP is indeed based on a community, but most users don't know the technical details of the map or what is possible. If you want to engage the community on the Community Portal, please do, but please be aware that of the people who can edit the map, only four are active on the site at the moment. It would be a lot of work to implement a change for the two or three people who want it.
-
Lol, really, all it would take is adding a few tags and making a few changes to the search function but if noone can do that, oh well :P Mikeyboy52 23:09, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- There are more than just "a few" - see this category. Each one would have to be checked then the map edited accordingly. Or, you could use this category to find the dungeons in which you're interested and then look them up on the map. rpeh •T•C•E• 08:22, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
-
- I guess what i was trying to say is, if you could see All the dungeons that you want (i prefere mages for instance) in one place, it would be easier, so we could tell what specific type of dungeon is closest (percantages are different for loot). Than again, it might also be done as a non-interactive set of maps, kind of what was done with ninroot and ectoplasem (not sure if i spelled those right). Mikeyboy52 07:57, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

To many things!
I'm not sure if i'm the first to notice this but there are 2 markers for many of the Elven ruins.
Thought i would just mention it.
Thanks for reading! — Unsigned comment by 122.148.61.198 (talk) on 1 June 2010
- One of the markers is the door, the other is the map location (where you appear if you fast travel to the location). rpeh •T•C•E• 08:10, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- What about dungeons with 2 doors, I know of one but cant remember the name. cayanar or something like that. had to push a button to find the 2nd door MikeTalk 15:17, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ceyatatar has this entrance and a (map); Veyond Cave has a main door and an underwater one, as does Fathis Aren's Tower, with a front and back door. Fort Farragut has a secret entrance too. rpeh •T•C•E• 16:19, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Guide Markers
Make a Guide Marker in the Real OBLIVION so that i can find the wayshrines if i need em for example make it so that i can see where im supposed to go when i want to go someplace... — Unsigned comment by 75.94.61.61 (talk) at 22:23 on 14 June 2010

Nirnroot?
First, amazing! I love the idea with showing where the nirnroots are located, but don't they change location after you gather them? Fayth 00:16, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Street View?
It would be a massive project, but it would be totally awesome to get a street-level view of the map, or at least of locations.71.205.116.179 23:57, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
sucks
this map sucks bad. as you zoom in and out things disapear. someone worked hard on this, i know. but the finished product is really useless — Unsigned comment by 97.125.207.212 (talk) 13:14, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- This isn't the final project, you could say map is part of a wiki, under a "protection" of sorts as only a few are working on it MikeTalk 13:14, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Just to add my opinion, I think this map is fantastic. It can be annoying when things fade out, but I suspect the alternative is the map looking far too cluttered at higher altitudes. Jadrax 15:20, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- The map is good definitely, but I'd also like to see at least one new feature, specifically the option to choose whether or not it hides all the other place markers when you search for something.--TheAlbinoOrcGot_a_question? 16:17, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Moved From Outstanding Suggestions
-
- Make it so there's and [sic] option to see everything on the map even from a zoomed out position
Moved from there because it's an old thread and the suggestion (if I'm correct) need to be approved as possible/useful/worth the effort.--TheAlbinoOrcGot_a_question? 00:16, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Not a chance. Look at this category. Almost all of those appear on the map, plus there are items, nirnroot and other stuff that gets an icon too. It would be impossible to read anything if everything appeared at all zoom levels. Take a look at the Imperial City on a high zoom, where we already have the greatest density of labels. Now imagine all those labels fitting into a space 1/16th the size. rpeh •T•C•E• 07:36, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
-
- TheEnigmaticMan suggests incorporating a tick box on the nearby features panel which would make the ticked items remain visible regardless of zoom. --TheEnigmaticMan 21:18, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
"Huge" mod maps?
it would be cool if you made maps for really big mods like DUNE and such, this could be a lot of work, but it would really help some people. — Unsigned comment by 24.10.210.8 (talk) on 20 July 2010
- It's very, very unlikely that maps will be made for mods not already described on the site. There might be a map for the Tamriel Rebuilt Morrowind mod at some point (see this discussion) but I can't see any others being done. rpeh •T•C•E• 08:48, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
A strange (invisible) Door.
TheEnigmaticMan has noticed that the island on which the portal to the shivering isles is situated has a marker, but is not visible. Is this deliberate? --TheEnigmaticMan 21:19, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- No... but there's not much we can do about it either. The map is generated by the "Create Local Maps" function of the Construction Set, and it simply doesn't create tiles with the island on them. It's probably because it is an island rather than fixed terrain. rpeh •T•C•E• 21:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- TheEnigmaticMan suggests taking a picture of an in-game local map and pasting it in. --TheEnigmaticMan 21:57, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Camp zoom-levels
The camps (tent icon) are only shown at a close zoom-level. They should be shown at one less zoom-level. It is also hard to navigate through the map (without the mini-map in the corner of the screen) while still being able to see the camps. It is understandable that there are a lot of camps in "Oblivion," but this can be a reasonable change in the map. — Unsigned comment by 98.210.34.184 (talk) on 2 August 2010
- Camps were deliberately set up the way they were because they aren't as important as forts, ruins and so on. Unless many more people ask for this change, I don't think it's a good idea to do it. rpeh •T•C•E• 09:41, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
