Kaspersky Virus Report Re: GoogleSyndication[edit]
As of this evening (but not earlier today while I was browsing the wiki), Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 reports the following:
1/25/2010 1:44:23 AM http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js Internet Explorer Processing error: Trojan.JS.Redirector.ar
As it was blocked, it caused no problems, but I get this message for every single page, and it's very annoying. This didn't happen while I was browsing earlier today, so Google very recently changed something in a bad way. Please look into this. Feel free to delete this message if and when the issue is resolved.

Inconsistency[edit]
This article states that "Advertising will never be put ... on the top of the page"

- I've updated the text and notified the site owner, just to make sure he approves of it. Thanks for pointing out the inconsistency! – Robin Hood (talk) 03:38, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
Support for advertising[edit]
Just saying that I support the use of ads for raising revenue. This site has greatly improved my understanding and enjoyment of the game. A few sensible ads is completely reasonable for this great free resource. Thanks. — Unsigned comment by 58.168.74.178 (talk) at 00:40 on 20 March 2013
- Edit: But the flashing shaking 999,999th visitor ads are degrading. — Unsigned comment by 143.238.68.188 (talk) at 02:48 on 13 April 2013

- Any annoying/inappropriate ads can be reported to the site owner who will investigate and take appropriate action, here. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 09:28, 13 April 2013 (GMT)
Video ads[edit]
I feel like the video ads are new and are quite annoying. I understand the needs for the site to maintain itself but now I have to scroll down to the bottom every page to mute the video, otherwise I have to listen to it. It would be great if the video ads can be made silenced by default or appear less often. — Unsigned comment by 18.96.6.214 (talk) at 15:38 on 16 January 2014 (GMT)
- First off, thank you for supporting the site by allowing ads through. However, as far as I am aware, there are not many ways for us to control who can specifically advertise here, just who cannot. Likewise, while there are some options for Google Ads to control what kinds of ads they will feature (such as allowing explicit ads or not), some slip through Google Ads regardless of the settings we choose. So all I can suggest is to report any offending ad when you see it, and it will be sorted out to the best of our ability. If I am wrong, anyone else slightly more in the know about our advertisements please correct me. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:38, 16 January 2014 (GMT)
- Logging in avoids the ad at the top- but generally found the ads below to be lightweight & unobtrusive with a minimum of sound. At this time the monitoring/config of Google ads works quite well IMHO.--Lmstearn (talk) 15:54, 15 April 2014 (GMT)
- Unfortunately I'm starting to run into ads which don't play nicely with Steam's in-game browser, which is a major benefit to using UESP over Wikia. It's impossible to log in if a flash ad prevents the page from loading completely; click events within the tab won't register until it does. It's also very difficult to report these for that same reason. A possible compromise might be to make the main page ad free, allowing an opportunity to log in.Blightbow (talk) 17:53, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

- We don't have much capability of filtering ads other than specific keywords and URLs. If the ads in question are from a particular advertiser or a for a specific product you can let us know and we may be able to filter them out. I'll also double-check the ad display settings to make sure I haven't missed an appropriate setting. -- Daveh (talk) 19:03, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

- The video ads are becoming unbearable in Steam's in-game browser. When viewing a wiki page, I will begin reading something then as soon as the video ad starts playing the screen will automatically scroll down to the ad at the bottom of the page and will not let me scroll back up until the ad has finished. Most of the video ads do have a play/pause button on them but it is hit-or-miss whether it will actually pause the ad. Would it be possible to change the type of advert to a banner ad, or at least prevent the auto-scrolling? --ClarSco (talk) 15:59, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
