Multiple Edits[edit]
I know you are new to the edit, and I just wanted to give both you and Iamgoofball a heads up. The wiki is not a forum. The many edits that both of you are making clog up the Recent Changes page difficult to watch. I would recommend going to the Forums or use email. Thanks. --DKong27 Talk Cont 03:38, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- In addition to DKong27's helpful advice, also I recommend that you use the Show preview button before saving an article, so you have a chance to catch any mistakes, add or remove information, etc... It would just make a few things easier on the hardworkers on this site, welcome to UESP for the most part Western3589 03:46, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- I figured we'd get something like this sooner or later... I do apologize and do intend on moving this to the forums. I looked at the Recent Changes page just before you two posted this and saw how bad we were clogging the page up :D Anyways, the conversation'll be off here soon. - I have registered on the fourms under the same name, and i'm waiting for Kalis to do the same.--Iamgoofball 04:14, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Welcome Messages[edit]
As I told Iamgoofball last night please use the "basic" welcome message. To instantly welcome a new user just click on contribs next to there name in recent changes, and then scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find a button to auto welcome new members. We also generally wait for new users to edit before welcoming, as we have plenty of new users joining everyday even though the majority will never edit.
Finally and this is just nitpicking, you invited Kdouglas42 to contact you for help (as seen [here], when you should of directed him to our mentors. Please do this in the future. As you are obviously a novice on this site, and clearly eager to learn how to edit properly I don't want you feel like I am picking on the new guy. Instead I will give you a slightly more condensed welcome message to get you started on the right foot. --AKB Talk Contribs Email 20:51, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Hello Kalis Agea! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup
- Getting Started: how you can help
If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:
- Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own
- Sorry about that. :D I was modelling it somewhat after Iamgoofball's, when I should have actually looked for an article on the subject. Anyways, thanks for understanding, and thanks for the help. Kalis Agea 21:01, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

- Don't worry about it, no one at all will hold your mistakes against you. It's expected for new editors, I made plenty of mistakes as well as you can clearly see on my talk page. Please remember you are in no trouble at all, this was just a courtesy message to make sure you understand the basics. --AKB Talk Contribs Email 21:12, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Oblivion Re-Install Failure[edit]
Well, I'm not so sure this is the place to post this, but here's hoping that someone runs across this edit sooner or later. The problem basically is that I'm attempting to reinstall Oblivion after an error occured that caused the data for the game to become either scattered or deleted. I have been having non-stop problems with Oblivion all month, but this is by far the most confusing for me (I'm not an expert on the techical stuff). When I attempt to install the game, it freezes on "Sounds.bsa". A popup soon appears with the heading: "Feature Transfer Error". The contents of the window are as follows:
- Component: Oblivion
- File: D:\data3.cab
- Error: Data error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean, and have come to the end of my rope. Help would be appreciated :D Kalis Agea 00:42, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- Not sure if it helps the only time I have seen it is was because my disc was damaged. Or even better my good friend Professor Wik E. Pedia has written something on the subject, as seen [here]. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 00:50, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
-
- Hmmmm I actually had to have someone else explain that to me... anyways, I guess I'll test the former hypothesis and clean the disk/use a cleaningkit. If that doesn't work, then I'll look into the Professer's explanation. Thaknks for your help :D Kalis Agea 00:56, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

- Cleaning it did the job. Thanks a bunch :D Kalis Agea 02:39, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

When to mark it done[edit]
Hi, legoless reverted your edit to Baurus's article (seen [here]). Generally speaking we don't mark something as already written if it is only partially done. Baurus has a lot of dialogue as a supporting character to the main quest, so it is clearly no where near done. Though you can say that you wrote his dialogue if you write part of it, as seen here where Arch Mage Matt started working on the dialogue, and I finished it. Also note that you shouldn't do a check if it has only been partially written (I'm not saying you have done this by the way, someone claimed to have checked Count Andel Indarys's dialogue when it was only partially written, leading to there name being removed from the tab).
- Heh, sorry about that; I haven't played the main questline in a LONG time, and I seemed to have forgotten who Baurus even really was... Anyway, I think I'll be getting to work on his dialogue (via CS) by tomorrow in a sandbox. Kalis Agea 21:11, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
-
- Hey there! Thanks for all the work you have been doing for the OBNPCRP! I just want to add a bit of advice if you are serious about taking on Baurus; make sure that you are running the game along with the CS. In most cases, NPCs like Baurus has a ridiculous amount of unused/stage-dependent dialogue, and as an in-game checker I know it is hell if the formidable NPCs are written purely from the CS. A reasonably "innocent" NPC like Erline Lirrian took me 8 real-life hours to check and correct - and she is involved in ONE quest only. It is therefore really important that you know exactly when dialogue is spoken - and under which circumstances, especially with an NPC like Baurus. The method is quite simple; make a save between each and every quest in the main quest line before starting - then, slowly, crawl your way through the quests and make sure to cross-check all the dialogue you find in the CS. Write down unused/problematic dialogue and make a "story" out of Baurus' role in the quest line. Also, remember; you can always ask other project members for advice along the way. Thanks - and good luck! --Krusty 21:31, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
-
-
- I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Thanks for the help/advice, and a rough draft of Barus' dialogue narrative should be done by Wednesday (which I will subsequently post in my Dialogue Sandbox). I'll actually be asking you (yes, I mean you) for advice during the early (CS/In-game checking) and revision stages. Anyways, that's just me planning ahead :D Kalis Agea 21:37, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

The Sandbox[edit]
You recently undid an edit to the sandbox, when you do please say something like "Cleanup" as that kind of edit is allowed there. There is nothing wrong with edits like this in the sandbox. Calling it nonsense can be off putting to newer users when we openly encourage them to try out editing on that page. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 00:45, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- It had nothing to do with anything wiki related, contributed nothing to the article. Maybe not call it nonsense but dont post "Theres nothing wrong with that kind of edit"...--Catmaniac66 01:18, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- In mainspace or most of the other pages on the wiki this type of action would be frowned upon, but because it is in the sandbox it's fine. The sandbox is a place for newer members to experience with editing instead of diving right into editing a potentially important page. However, you are able to revert members edits in the sandbox, but for the purpose of cleaning it up for the next person to use instead of reverting it because it is nonsense. --Pwnageincarnate 01:25, 13 April 2011 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate
- I honestly don't think that the IP user had (or has, for that matter) any intentions to become experienced with editing. It was typical troll behaviour, and the user was (to me) manipulating our free editing of the page. However, I understand the edit was perfectly fine. Kalis Agea 01:28, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- Let me rephrase that to make it simple. That kind of edit is absolutely allowed there even if it has nothing to do with the wiki (Spam might be the exception or say if someone keeps reading vulgarities to the page after cleanup). Just say "Cleanup". For the record Catmaniac how are you supposed to contribute to an article when every edit to that page is reverted! It is for experementation, and it is better than having that kind of thing on actual articles. Virtually all edits are not bad on the sandbox. Anyway what harm is done by just writing Cleanup as an edit summary? This doesn't have to be controversial. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:32, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- You have no way of knowing the users intentions based on the sole fact that they haven't made an account yet. All the guy wrote was "puns are fun". This is a perfectly acceptable addition, as he was only testing out editing as the sandbox allows. --Pwnageincarnate 01:39, 13 April 2011 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate
- I have already stated that I understand what my mistake was. Looking over what was said while I was away, it appears that this has turned into a conversation about my edit summary? In any event, thank you for pointing this out, and I will keep this in mind in the future. Kalis Agea 02:32, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Spells Checked?[edit]
How did you perform this check? I believe that spells and factions were the two things that could only be checked through the CS. So my question is how exactly did you test this? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:17, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'm terribly sorry for that. The answer to this lies in exactly how I complete my in-game work on the OBNPCRP. When I check info, I do so by consulting a terribly long list of notes taken during gameplay. It seems that I checked under the wrong section for him (the correct section, looking back, was "House Contents"; I check everything for each NPC, regardless of what is done or not). Again, I do apologize, and if it hasn't already been done I will check this via CS shortly. Kalis Agea 23:24, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

A question.[edit]
Since I don't know anything AT ALL about morrowind, can I just make stuff up as I go along in my half?--Iamgoofball 22:53, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- I suppose you're referring to Mallarisel? Well you don't really need to know anything about Morrowind for that. Since its had a magical barrier around it since the early First Era, the inhabitants have always manipulated the environment within the sphere. Currently its in a spring-like state. So... I guess I'd compare to the Heartlands in Cyrodiil. BUT if you aren't referring to Mallarisel, then I really don't care what you do as far as improvisation! Kalis Agea 23:30, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Spells[edit]
Hiya. I noticed that you've been doing a great work on writing spells for the ONCPRP. However, if you don't want to write the same thing over an over again when you encounter NPCs that have the same set of spells you can instead simply add a small sentence that links to this page. Also, when writing spells for NPCs that also happen to sell them you can then just write so instead of having to duplicate the information (like here). Just a friendly advice. Keep up the good work! :) --S'drassa •You have words? 03:41, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, S'drassa! I remember once seeing a link to that page, but couldn't remember where, and therefore could not link to that article... Anyhooo, many thanks again. Not only does this make it so I don't have to find new ways to write the same thing, but nearly eliminates the possibility of giving incorrect information! --Kalis Agea 03:48, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

LPRP[edit]
Hey, I think you should ask a admin or moderator if you could make a page for this.--Iamgoofball 02:26, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I'm first trying to see if anyone will actually bother to help out anyway. Most people are already busy with the ONPCRP or OPRP or some other project. I just feel that until there are at least three or four people working on this, it's not worth a page. And I think the Amdins will agree. Thanks for your interest, though and as always help would be appreciated (sly message WIN) :D --Kalis Agea 02:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
-
- I've been thinking about requesting a formal lore redesign project. Sure there is my Lore overhaul project (Open to the public, but I have ignored it a lot and once I stopped working on it so did the few others who assisted with it), rpeh's WULPPIOHTAASWDP (Say that ten times fast), and your LPRP, but all of these are more or less personal projects. I think it is time that we organize a more proper attempt to improve lore. I'd imagine that requesting the formation of this project as a formal wiki project like OBNPCRP or MQRP at the community portal would be a decent idea. Of course there comes an issue on exactly what value would come from organizing this project, how it would work, what its guidelines are, what its task is. Sure, improving lore is a good idea, but you would have to figure out a formal set of guidelines to improving lore, and since there is such a wide range of different lore articles I can't think of a way to write out a task list or anything for the project.
-
- So if you wish to move this to the community portal I'd recommend that you come prepared for quite a discussion on how this would work, and what value this project would have to the community. I'd suggest you start laying the ground work for the project in a sandbox, sure it'll suck if the project never is opened to the public, but it is a great claim for any editor to have organized an entire project. So if you failed to make it an official site task instead of a pet project it would undoubtedly suck, but if you do properly organize this task it would be a great boost to your editorial prestige. Believe me, being able to claim that you were the editor who turned Lore Space around is a claim that all editors would wish to have, and one you could take if you did this.
-
- So in the end all I wish to say is that I'd put a lot more thought on how this would work if you wished to organize this in UESPWiki space. Would this just be a mob effort improving one page at a time to make it near perfect? A set of instructions on what an article needs to have done to it for it to be marked as completed? Just a list of pages that needs work, and a group of editors willing to fix them? Put a little bit of thought into this if you want to get people to work on it. I'd most certainly join a lore redesign project if I thought it would help improve lore, but you'd need to work out how the group would work first. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 02:52, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
-
-
- Alright. Sorry, I was foolin around on my drumset. Got distracted. Anyways, I guess it's time for a NEW SANDBOX! I've had a few ideas for a while that I'll jot down right now. The sandbox will be open for editing by all editors (same as my Lore sandbox). I'll take this week and the part of the next to right it before bringing it up on the Communtiy Portal. Thanks for your ideas, AKB! And to everyone who happens to rad this: feel free to toss in your ideas to the sandbox.

- The function can be activated in My Preferences, in the Gadgets section. The fifth one down is a Purging gadget. Once you check the box and save, the "Purge" button will appear at the at the end of the top bar (the one with edit, discussion, etc). As for what it is: when someone says that a page is not working for any reason, go to that page and click "Purge". Wait for it to finish loading, and the server cache is now purged. This basically means that it should work correctly now. Further explanation (by Rpeh and others) can be found here. If you want to help out, go right ahead.--Kalis Agea 01:58, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

- No problem! Oh, and the LPRP is going to be up on the Community Portal soon. Here is the Outline/Guidelines for the project, if you want to read it. --Kalis Agea 02:20, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks rpeh! Nom nom nom... Oh and I usually do use the Cite book Template with PGE, but I was a little tired and I just happened to copy and paste that from a word document I keep for syntax and such. My bad. The year additions weren't mine, by the way, but I do change them (if I remember!).--Kalis Agea 14:24, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Revert[edit]
Im not saying that the edit is the best method (though I did reinstate it as such, it requires no combat, I may go add disitegrate armor on self into it as well), but please be careful about adding "false information" to the edit summary, when it isnt and would only take about 1 minute to test. It is most certainly correct because it is definetely the best way to get endurance on weak/max difficulty characters.--Catmaniac66 01:29, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- My bad; I've kept hand-written notes on the Increasing spells page for the last few months, and that revert was according to said notes. Looks like it's time for another revision...--Kalis Agea 01:32, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah dont worry, they pointed this out on the community portal as well, turns out I was the one who did it first (recently first I mean) and actually prompted a response. So crap happens, just learn from it and its all good :-D!--Catmaniac66 01:35, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, my notes have a tendency to screw me up. Take for example the discussion above "Spells Checked?" But, alas, it is best that I still use the notes; they help to get my ADHD mind to focus on one thing at a time.--Kalis Agea 01:40, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Checking Dialogue[edit]
Hey there! You probably noticed that I reverted your check of the dialogue on Aldos Othran’s page. I did that for two very important reasons:
- I looked through my CS dialogue sheet and found several pieces of drunken dialogue not yet included on the page.
- As the noob who originally wrote the dialogue (from the in-game) subtitles, I can easily tell that this is not really correct CS-checking.
When checking my questionable dialogue ramblings from the CS, you will have to know the background story; back in the day, before I received a full dialogue sheet, all my stuff was written from the in-game subtitles – and I made a lot of typo’s and other mistakes, just to get the project going; this was obviously “okay”, as the dialogue would receive proper checking later on from the CS, but makes it a bit more difficult to do it “right”. First of all, you will have to take the CS dialogue and copy/paste it to ALL dialogue entries on the page. Yep, this is tedious, but we will then be sure the dialogue is correct all over. After doing that, you should look through ALL Aldos’ dialogue in the CS. Yup, that’s right, even his Hello’s and Goodbye’s, THEN check in-game if the lines exist, THEN add them to the page. This is a whole lot of work and is due to a bit of uncertainty when we started the project – these days, I will write (CS and in-game) on my dialogue sections, simply to show that the dialogue was practically checked both ways already – and that the checker is “free” to pick between in-game or CS checking. Thanks. --Krusty 06:21, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think it's time I get off this site for the night (after I checked a few more NPC spells). Despite looking through the CS I missed the missing dialogue (a bit redundant, that, but it'll have to do) completely; anyway, I'll be about and around the site a while after I get off (6-11 hours) to finish the dialogue unless someone else does it before me. Thanks for the eagle-eyes Krusty!--Kalis Agea 06:28, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- No problem - and don't worry too much about it. It is just that, as the author, I know that many of the pages have mistakes and need the copy/paste treatment from the CS. Oh, and it is not just my writings - each and every time you see this: (in-game) next to the dialogue tag, it is copy/paste time, regardless of author. --Krusty 06:32, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll keep that in mind from now on. Also, thanks not only for help with this but for all the help with... well, everything around the wiki that I've screwed up or tried! Same goes for Rpeh, AKB, and Legoless. I just felt like say-- errr typing that :D .--Kalis Agea 06:38, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Happy Birthday![edit]
Hope you have a great day - and it's not ruined by the end of the earth at 6pm! rpeh •T•C•E• 10:59, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- A very happy birthday from me as well! --Krusty 11:01, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Same as the above, hope you enjoy the knowledge that you successfully survived another rotation around a giant orb of super heated hydrogen and helium (And other things, I'm not talking about them) on the celestial body known as Earth. A grand accomplishment I believe! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 11:07, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! And don't worry, the world's governments have secret alien spacecraft for such emergencies. ;) And AKB, now that you put it that way, this (somehow) sounds to me like an X-Men episode... Quite strange...Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 17:08, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Removed Your Reply[edit]
Hi. I removed your reply to the troll on Minor Edit's talk page. The troll obviously doesn't give a damn about Einstein's quote, so you shouldn't feel a need to justify yourself. I hope you don't mind, but this guy will (probably) go away if we just ignore him. Legoless 22:18, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Eh. I suppose I see what you mean. Should have refrained from typing that reply. Besides, removing that probably kept this from getting nasty. Obvious troll was obvious...--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 22:21, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
