Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

QUESTION

I feel much more comfortable adding images to pages now, after adding so many. My question is, how can I replace some images I've already posted? I can't save over the old one. Can I just request someone delete them for me so I can upload better versions?

Crop

Oh hey, thank you.

So I have a question about that. I was trying to keep things square, in line with recommendations, so I added the black lines manually.

Should I just avoid the black space and upload images 800x768? --Dren (talk) 03:54, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

Instead of adding a black bar to increase the image size to a 1:1 ratio you can crop the image (remove a portion of the image) to make it 1:1 (upload them at 768x768). As an example of this, I did so here. This is beneficial as it will make the subject in the image appear larger on the actual page, regardless of user settings, without also making the image oddly proportioned (which is what would happen if the image was too narrow and showed little else besides the subject). Making images comply with our image standards can be a bit tricky when working with NPCs (one of the only categories of images that need cropping), but the information on Images should provide a handy summary of what needs to be done. Learning Curve

Namespaces

Just wanted to say that I love how UESP uses namespaces. The official elderscrolls wiki is so aggrivating because I can't tell if what I am looking at is from Skyrim, Oblivion, or Morrowind. So yea, good job on the UESP design. --Archivist Dren (talk) 03:45, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
