Welcome![edit]

Hiya Malik! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's great when we get new members. Just thought I'd send you a welcome with some helpful info. Check out the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at the Userboxes page: a near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~ (do not sign edits to articles). Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! ABCface 00:22, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Sandboxes[edit]

Hey there. Sandboxes are for people to edit a page semi-privately while not disrupting people reading a page. Your edits to Helenaannevalentine's sandbox, even if they are correct, are generally not done. They would usually be reverted, but Helen is online atm and may choose to leave them be. Please refrain from editing other users sandboxes in the future, thanks. Golden SilenceBreak the Silence 18:37, 17 September 2012 (GMT)

I checked the page history before editing, and noticed others made similar such minor edits. I assumed it was common practice because of this. Malik (talk) 18:47, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
It's not often done. Generally when someone else edits a sandbox that indicates they were invited to do so or the page has been clearly marked as being open to anyone editing. While I'm not aware of Br3admax's edits were asked for, it is general policy to not edit a sandbox unless you're clearly given permission. However, I find that most people love feedback on their projects, so it is almost always better to use a user's talk page to point out any issues relating to a project. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:52, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
(ec)Edits are only allowed with permission, this can be granted in many forms, the most obvious is a notice at the top of the page saying it is open, much like the ones in the Skyrim roleplaying pages, by a user who has chosen to host them. Other methods are e-mail, IRC, or the forums. You may also note that one of the edits has been undone. Golden SilenceBreak the Silence 18:54, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
There were only minor edits because I had done the bulk of the article and was going over any mistakes I had make, etc. Sorry if you were to be confused with that. But please in the future refrain from editing other users' sandboxes unless you directly ask their permission on their respective talk-page or unless it says that you are allowed to edit that sandbox on its' page. - Helenaannevalentine(talk) 18:56, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
With no less than 3 different people stressing this over two minor edits, I'll be sure to refrain in the future. Malik (talk) 19:21, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
It's really not that big of a deal—it's just that some people really prefer to minimize the number of people working on a project to keep their brains from exploding (I'm like this myself, so I keep a notice saying so at the top of my sandbox pages). But if you do see something, it always helps to mention it on the user's talk page. They may even tell you to go ahead and edit the sandbox yourself :). eshetalk 19:25, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
Like Eshe said above me, we're not picking on you, we're just notifying you that it's better to ask the user if you are able to edit the sandboxes or to mention something that needs changing or whatever. Better to be safe and sure :) - Helenaannevalentine(talk) 19:40, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
