An open question to anyone who sees this page -- is there a way on this Wiki to write up pages for personal purposes, unrelated to any Wiki articles? I know I've seen it somewhere else, I just don't remember where. I'm thinking of writing up a story for my next Oblivion character's gameplay (sort of the opposite of roleplaying -- rather than playing around a story, I want to write around my gameplay), and I like to let other people happen across stuff I do when I'm bored. :P -- /\/\oses

Sig Nonsense

After checking the raw HTML box, I get the following error: "Invalid raw signature. Check HTML tags."

Here's what I've been trying to use: <font color=0FCCFF>-- <span style=font-family:Oblivion>Moses</span></font>

As an additional note, I thought it might just be trying to tell me that I needed an actual link to my user page in my sig, so I tried this: <font color=0FCCFF>-- <span style=font-family:Oblivion>[[User:Moses|Moses]]</span></font>

Which looks like: -- Moses

...and that's even less right than the previous one, and still gives the same error.

The sig box is very picky. Try putting quotes around the right-hand-side of the color and style sections and a # in front of your color:

The only real difference is that to see the signature properly you must have the file installed. So most people cant really see daedric, they will see a "normal" font. MikeTalk 05:16, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Spellmaking Stuff

This was mainly done to sate my own curiosity, but I figured it shouldn't go to waste if someone else could use it. Who knows, maybe it's all common knowledge, or maybe it's not important enough to be mentioned.

Basically I wanted to look at the effects of multi-school skills on one's skill levels. I will refer to a multi-school spell as having a "major" effect (This is the one that ultimately decides the school of magic the spell as a whole falls into), and "minor" effects (all the other effects tacked onto the spell).

I've used an Illusion effect and an Alteration effect for both these spells, but I assume it'd be the same with all multi-school spells. At the start of my tests, those skills were as follows:
Illusion: 109 (100 base)
Alteration: 53 (53 base)

The first test was to see if a multi-school spell would raise its minor skill if said minor skill was being used. This is the spell I created:
Unlock Heart: Charm 100 pts for 10 secs on Target; Open Average Lock on Target (76 Magicka with above skill levels) (Magic School: Illusion)

The spell did not appear to raise my Alteration skill level when cast on people or doors. Out of further curiosity, I looked at my magicka cost for the spell before my test, then after my test I raised my Alteration skill by spamming Open Very Easy Lock. The magicka cost of Unlock Heart was reduced to 75 after the skill level increased. I figured it was worth noting that even though it's technically an illusion spell, your alteration skill still factors into its magicka cost. I had kind of thought that would only matter while CREATING the spell.

Because my base Illusion skill was at 100, I could not see if that skill would have been raised. To check this, I made a similar spell to the one above, but with the relative costs of the spell effects reversed (Alteration being the major effect). Essentially I would be seeing if I could raise my Alteration skill by using a Charm/Open spell to charm people rather than to open a lock. By this time my skills were as follows:
Illusion: 109 (100 base)
Alteration: 55 (55 base)

I used this spell:
MAGICTEST: Charm 100 pts for 1 sec on Target; Open Average Lock on Target (55 Magicka with the above skill levels) (Magic School: Alteration)

Casting it on people (as well as on doors) did indeed raise my Alteration skill.   -- Moses 06:52, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Those are about the results I would have expected. I wasn't 100% sure about the spell cost being affected by both schools, but it makes sense. As a final test, you should see if both schools are raised when neither of them is maxed or if it's only the primary. As far as I know, only the primary school should be raised, and I'm sure we have that on one of the pages, but further confirmation is never a bad thing. I'm on my way to bed right now or I'd track it down/test it myself.
