When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Unclothed NPCs

Can you please explain your reasoning behind this category. I can't fathom any reasonable reason for it and it appears completely superfluous. Silence is Golden^{Break the Silence} 23:04, 6 October 2012 (GMT)

• I doubt anyone still cares, it was for a mod, but it turns out it's possible to simply use a script to filter out any NPCs without a "Default Outfit" without any need to list them specifically. It's not my mod though. TorchicBlaziken (talk) 00:33, 20 January 2014 (GMT)

Edit Summaries

Hi TorchicBlaziken! We appreciate all your contributions so far, but if you could please get in the habit of explaining your edits a bit in the edit summary box, that would be awesome. It's quite helpful for those of us lurking on the Recent Changes page to be able to see what was done at a glace, and it makes for a helpful page history too. Linking Categories

I noticed your attempt to link the category, and then its removal here. To properly link a category (or a file), just add a colon in front of it and it'll do what you expect. To use your example, [[:Category:Lore-Books-by-Debut]] would produce Category:Lore-Books-by-Debut. – Robin Hood  ^(talk) 21:12, 2 February 2013 (GMT)

Books by debut

Hey, you recently created the books by debut category. I just proposed them for deletion, and I wanted to explain a little about why I decided to do that. Currently, books are organized by the games they appear in. This is done very easily because of our namespace system. If a book has a page in a namespace, it is automatically added to the category. Organizing books by which game they appeared in first would have to be done manually each time, with someone going through all the books and adding them to the category. At the moment, I can't see a reason why you would want to look up books by which game they appeared in first. It is extremely easy to look up a specific book and find which game it first appeared in, but I don't really understand why someone would need to look up all books that appeared in that game first. Perhaps you can help me out there. The reason I used the prod system rather than the speed deletion method was so that there could be a discussion about the pages. There doesn't need to be a discussion on every one of the pages, if there is a discussion, the result will apply to all of the categories. I look forward to hearing from you!! The reason was that I wanted to look up every book from Skyrim. So I could make a mod for Oblivion for some of those books which should exist by that time period like The Book of the Dragonborn. TorchicBlaziken (talk) 23:36, 2 February 2013 (GMT)

I hope you aren't saying you created a whole new categorization just for you to judge which books should have appeared when. You could just compare which books appear in Category:Skyrim-Books against Category:Oblivion-Books if you feel so strongly that Bethesda should have added books they hadn't conceived of to games. I don't see what justifies such a hostile response. Look at the categories for yourself - Skyrim has 616 new books. Many of these are either test books or quest-specific notes. This wouldn't be difficult to do at all - you'd only have to modify {{Book Summary/Lore}} and have it add the page to a specific category depending on which game added it first (the way it is coded, that would be incredibly easy to do). I could see this being a potentially useful resource. For instance, people that come on to this site to read the books could see what books were added by what game. As stated above, this could be a useful tool for modders, especially to add books from previous games that don't exist in the newer games (such as Daggerfall books in Skyrim). Remember too that categories aren't like articles. They are created for the convenience of editors and readers alike, and individually require almost no work at all. If you're still interested in that list, you can see it here. Also, I'd like to say that comparisons like that are not as easy as some might put it. Something along these lines would actually be useful to create, separating the books added by a game from all the books in that game, something like "Only Major Events" on the Era pages. -- Kertaw48 (talk) 14:01, 3 February 2013 (GMT)

I also think this would be a useful set of categories. I do, however, think that a better name for the subcategories would be helpful. The current names (Category:Lore-Books-from-Morrowind, etc.) make it sound like it's just books in that game. A more specific name would help, and in this case could be as simple as Category:Lore-Books-by-Debut-Morrowind. If there's at least a few people who would be interested in this set of categories (Jak & Kertaw, please correct me if I'm wrong in interpreting from this discussion that you would be interested), I don't see any harm in getting them created (with the adjusted names). — ABCface^◥ 03:57, 4 February 2013 (GMT)

I don't believe this has yet been decided on,but I personally would love to see a listing like this. I love learning about the lore of games and books appearing when will help keep track of who had what knowledge, when and the like ᴷᴬᴸᴯᴵᴻᵀᴵ□ᴻ 20:22, 13 February 2013 (GMT)
