Walkthrough[edit]
This quest starts when you find a note on the body of a dead adventurer named Curtis in the Temple to Mephala. You'll receive a journal update and a quest marker pointing to the Silver Mine, to the west. Once you get there, you'll be attacked by a lich - the undead form of Curtis. Once you kill him, the gates to the mine will open, and several skeletons will appear. Hack your way through them, and head into the mine.
The sword is located in the room at the far end of the mine, lying on a cushion and guarded by a skeleton hero. Kill it and take the sword to complete the quest.

In a temple besieged by the undead, I found a note on the body of a man named Curtis. He writes that he wanted to hide from the lifeless companions there. He was about to sneak out during the day and visit the silver mine in the west. By the look of things, he suspected there was a sword there. |

I found the sword the treasure hunter was seeking. It looks like an elven scimitar. An unknown magic lies on it. |
- The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 20, 30.
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage ODDDesertCurtisQuest stage
, where stage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
