A wolf

Wolves are hostile canines found in several areas. They can be found alone or in small packs of two or three, and will attack anyone who comes near. Occasionally they can be heard howling within a close range.

Some wolves may appear to be alone, but when threatened, they will howl and summon two or three more wolves to their aid. They come in several colors, which may vary depending on their environment.

Rare species of wolves in the Cyrodilic Highlands have been domesticated into capable mounts: this was accomplished by breeding them into larger sizes unseen in the wild variety.

Quest-Related Events

During Freedom's Chains, a friendly wolf appears in the cave at the entrance of Kerbol's Hollow alongside Marcellyne Cine. It is only present at the beginning of the quest. It disappears after you speak to Marcellyne, having entered the village. Its lack of hostility towards the villagers hints at the hollow's true nature.

Skills and Abilities

Call of the Pack

Some wolves have the ability to summon wolves to fight at their side. The wolf will howl, and two additional wolves will appear, though they are much weaker than usual. It is usually the black colored wolves that have this ability.

Bite

Deals moderate physical damage.

Helljoint

The wolf channels this ability for six seconds, rooting you and causing damage over time. Bashing the wolf stops it from attacking and throws it off-balance.

Rotbone

The wolf charges this attack for one second. Should be blocked.

Notes

• Many different wolf mounts are available.
• The hostile wolves found in the Howling Sepulchers and those summoned by Packleader Sigmund in Hircine's Haunt are undead and riddled with arrows.
