Destroyed or not?

Since I haven't played Arena myself, I find the following two parts of the article slightly confusing:

• "the combined energies of Tharn's lifeforce and the Staff of Chaos were released in a powerful surge of energy, culminating in the destruction of both the Battlemage and the Staff itself"
• "The staff's power is released in a powerful surge of energy, [...] Shortly after, the staff is placed under security in White Gold Tower"

Was it destroyed or not? A clarification would be helpful in my opinion. 2.242.153.76 13:00, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
