Avar at Snowstone Rest

Avar is a Nord miner on the run from the criminal gang Thorina's Cutters. He is catching his breath at Snowstone Rest before pressing on into Skyrim, and will ask you to deliver a letter to his brother Hulgard.

He spends all his time sitting at his table at the inn, eating and drinking. If you deliver the letter to his brother, he disappears from the game. Once he makes it over the border, he will send you a letter of thanks.

Avar is armed with an iron mace and wears Colovian fur clothes, a pair of fine boots and a pair of gloves. He will also carry a random assortment of gold, lockpicks, food, drink and jewelry.

If you strike up a conversation, he will bemoan:

"Damn it all. Run out of Cyrodiil, all for daring to offend Thorina's band of criminals and cutpurses."

What's wrong?

"What's wrong? I'm being forced to flee my home, that's what's wrong. All because of those damned Cutters. I... got on their bad side. Angered the wrong people. Fought a little bit too tirelessly when they attacked the wagon I was escorting. Long story short, I need out of Cyrodiil. They're chasing me as we speak. I just stopped in here to get a bit of Nord fire in my belly for the trip. Actually, I hate to ask this of you, but could you deliver this note to my brother, Hulgard? He runs Northern Arms, the smithy in Bruma."

I'm not going to involve myself in that. Sorry.

"I... understand, traveler. Best of luck in your own travels."

Sure. I'll deliver it.

"Thank you so much, traveler. I'd be happy to give you directions to Bruma if you need them. Once you get to the city, just find the smithy, Northern Arms. It's on the north side of town. Best of luck, friend. And thank you."

Notes

• Although his letter of thanks mentions his desire to return to Cyrodiil once Thorina's Cutters have been defeated, he will in fact not reappear after Service Rewarded.
