The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995

Cut content refers to material that was planned for Legends but removed or changed before release, or never released due to the game's shutdown. It should not be confused with deprecated content, which was once in the game and later removed, such as training, Chaos Arena or balance changes. This page includes some pre-release content and test cards, as some cases are difficult to distinguish. This approach ensures all information remains accessible.

Realms[edit]

Realms was the intended sixth expansion for Legends. The name Realms is known from datamine, but is only a working title, just as Crisis was for Jaws of Oblivion. Several mechanics are known from a later interview.[1] The following ideas were considered for the expansion:

  • The set was intended as the second part of Jaws of Oblivion, based around the Daedric Princes and their Realms. They wanted to expand the lore for these locations in ways that the mainline Elder Scrolls games hadn't yet done.
  • Invade would have been spread over the two sets. Due to Realms being scrapped, they moved all ideas for invade to Jaws of Oblivion without all the necessary tools, answers, and checks.
  • A new card type which would change your player into an avatar of a Daedric Prince, including the change of your character portrait.
  • A new mechanic named Colossal which would involve huge Daedra creatures that would take up space in both lanes.

For future sets after Realms, they intended to follow more of the ESO chapters and add more Arena-like game modes.

Keywords and Mechanics[edit]

This is a list of known mechanics that are either from datamines or developer diaries. Official descriptions are in italics.

Lunar Creatures Mechanic found on creatures. When you summoned one, a moon became visible in their lane. That moon then progressed through four phases, one by one. When a specific phase met your Lunar creature’s requirements, you’d get a bonus. Precursor mechanic to Wax/Wane.[2]
Marked Unknown When a Marked creature dies, your opponent gets a magicka.
Mooncall Creatures Creatures with Mooncall would come into play, then that lane would get a moon for this turn and your next turn. During those turns those variable Mooncall abilities would be active. Precursor mechanic to Wax/Wane.[2]
Moonphase Creatures The first two times you played a Moonphase creature would advance one notch on the moon’s phases return the creature to your hand; the third time you played a Moonphase creature in that lane, it stayed in play Precursor mechanic to Wax/Wane.[2]
Plunder Unknown Destroy a friendly rune
Glossary: When you Plunder a friendly rune, that rune is destroyed and you take no damage. You draw a card, and you can play it if it's a Prophecy.
Quest // Reward Supports You need to complete a quest, which can be any game actions as described on the card, after which you get the listed reward. Precursor mechanic to the Jaws of Oblivion quest actions such as The Ultimate Heist and Whodunit?.
Replace Unknown Remove a creature and summon another in its place.
Glossary: Replacing a creature removes it from the game, and a new creature is summoned in its place. The new creature triggers its own summon abilities, but other cards don't respond to its summon.

Rout[3] Creatures When you rout a creature, return it to its commander's hand. This keyword was datamined prior to Heroes of Skyrim, it is unknown if this is the official or paraphrased discription.
Scheme Unknown Bonus effect at the start of your turn after this card comes into play.
Glossary: When you play a card with Scheme, it has a bonus effect at the start of your next turn.
Shield Wall[3] Creatures While there are two or more other creatures in this lane, enemy creatures can't attack players. This keyword was datamined prior to Heroes of Skyrim, it is unknown if this is the official or paraphrased discription.
Soaring Creatures Can't be attacked for one turn, until after it lands. Can land in any lane. This keyword was datamined prior to Heroes of Skyrim, and was potentially intended for Dragons in the set.
Soulbound Creatures A keyword that resurrected the creature as a 1/1 upon dying. A precursor mechanic to Consume.[2] Non-keyworded on Wandering Skeleton.
Spellcast X Creatures Unknown, the X can be any number followed by an effect. This mechanic is associated with a "cantrip" that is an action with X magicka cost and the listed effect as text. The creature most likely creates this cantrip when it is summoned or when magicka X is paid. It's is unknown if the cantrip can be obtained more than once with Spellcast.
Stealthy[3] Creatures This can't be attacked or targeted until it deals damage. A similar non-keyworded version of this can be seen on cards like Shadowmaster. Potentially a precursor to the Cover mechanic.
Spy Creatures You're shown two of your opponent's cards. Choose the one in their hand. Intended for a Thieves Guild faction in Heroes of Skyrim and later for Imperials in Houses of Morrowind. When no Imperial faction was used, the only card left with the mechanic was Caius Cosades,[2] and later Thief of Dreams.
Austere Creatures and Items Immune to enemy Keywords. Potentially intended as upcoming mechanic for Realms, it is unknown how certain keywords like Breakthrough, Drain or Ward would interact.
Colossal Creatures The only colossal test card has the following tags: Can attack other lane, can be attacked from any lane, guards both lanes, immune to cover. Upcoming mechanic for Realms, it was intended for "huge Daedra creatures that would take up space in both lanes".[1]
Twinstrike Creatures Creatures with Twinstrike can attack twice each of your turns. Potentially intended as upcoming mechanic for Realms

Traps[edit]

Traps were an early mechanic known from datamining where you could hide cards and surprise your opponent at a later moment during the game. The trap would trigger based on other actions a player or opponent would take. The exact mechanic is unknown, but a lot of the groundwork was already finished. It was a so called "supertype", for which the only other examples are Unique cards. It would have been displayed in the same manner as Ongoing or Shout within the card frame. Several art pieces survived to this day, such as a Pitfall Trap, a Wire Trap and a Net Trap. There was also a Thieves Guild daily quest dedicated to "lay 5 traps". Traps were later introduced as a creature type during the The Ventral Terminus quest with almost no resemblance to the original mechanic.

Story[edit]

An early concept of the story is found with different characters. Only the images for the choices during the story are still available, which means many of the intermediate chapters are unknown. The first part of the story follows a similar premise as the The Forgotten Hero, such as the young wolf and fighting undead in a crypt, but deviates at the later chapters where the old crew fights inside a dwemer ruin and even meets Sheogorath.

The game files has a portrait for the daily quest giver Umaril the Unfeathered. It was probably cut in an early stage as no banner or quests are found.

The following section has three lists of cards that are known to be in the game files. Not all cards listed here are cut content, some are test material or experimental.

Datamined Cards[edit]

The first list shows cards that were datamined from the Dire Wolf Digital's and Sparkypant's language files. These only have the names and abilities of the cards. Not other info is known, inlcuding their magicka cost, power and health, or rarity. Formatting can be inconsistent as some cards were still unfinished.

Valchiha Conspirator Summon: Draw a card, then you may sacrifice another creature to draw an extra card. Valchiha is most likely a corruption of Volkihar. The only mention of this word is from a fanfic.[4]

  • M'aiq the Liar was originally planned to appear in Legends, with voice files for him entering play and attacking having been datamined.
    • When asked if M'aiq would be playable in the game, Pete Hines said, "When I asked him he said he was in the game. I guess he was lying."[6]
