Count Charus Valga was the hereditary ruler of Chorrol in the late Third Era. He married Countess Arriana Valga and fathered one child, the Lady Alessia.[1] In life, he was a staunch Defender of the Faith and a follower of Stendarr, and was said to be a kind and noble individual.[2][3] Count Valga died in battle against the heathen Nord clansmen of Skyrim, leaving his widow Arriana to rule as Countess of Chorrol.[2][4]

Prior to his death, Chorrol's court mage Chanel painted a portrait of Count Valga. After his untimely passing, the Countess in her grief became somewhat obsessed with the portrait, speaking to its lifeless canvas on many a lonely night in Castle Chorrol. During the Oblivion Crisis in 3E 433, Chanel stole the painting from the Countess's private quarters out of jealousy, stemming from her deep love of the late Count. The Countess was heartbroken by the loss, and began an investigation into the theft. It is unknown if the painting was ever recovered.[5][3][6]

Notes[edit]

  • The portrait of Count Charus Valga is supposed to reappear within the castle's private quarters if returned at the end of the related quest in Oblivion. Due to a bug, it is never actually seen in-game.
  • The ancient Honorblade of Chorrol was stolen from Castle Chorrol by a daring thief named Albert Jemane when Charus Valga was count.[7][8]
