Chaurus are large hostile arthropods found in caves deep below the surface of Skyrim and in some cases on the surface. They possess highly poisonous saliva as well as a powerful bite.[1] Chaurus are bred and raised by the Falmer, later to be killed and have their chitin used for armor.[2] The Gray Host tamed Chaurus in their experiments in Blackreach, using them as guards.[3] Their meat is used in Nordic cuisine.[4]

Life Cycle[edit]

When a Chaurus reaches the end of its natural lifespan, its body undergoes a dramatic transformation. After days of death-like stillness, it is reborn as a Chaurus Hunter that bursts free from the husk of the Chaurus.[5]
