Rasman the Red was the first Jarl of Whiterun Hold. Although he's considered the first Jarl,[1][2] in reality the first leader and the founder of the city of Whiterun was Jeek of the River.[3]
Little is known of Rasman's history. During his time, two special commemorative medallions featuring the image of a horse were crafted. One of these was passed down from Jarl to Jarl, but by 4E 201, no Jarl had ever deemed the other worthy of being given to a deserving individual—until the times of Balgruuf the Greater, who offered it, along with other memorabilia, to a worthy individual.[1][2]
