Lore talk:Arcane University
Same organization?[edit]
Where was it actually confirmed that the Arcane and Imperial Universities are the same organization? 89.240.245.2 23:17, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- There are no direct confirmations, but the two most solid connections I know of are Lore:Notes For Redguard History and Lore:A Scholar's Guide to Nymphs, which confirm the Imperial University as being in the Imperial City. Essentially before Oblivion there was no Arcane University, the university was only called the Imperial University in Daggerfall and Morrowind and OB renamed it. The Imperial University is an alternate name for the building, not an alternate name or a different organisation to the Mages Guild, which hasn't always occupied the building. Possible appearance in Arena[edit]
Could the Mages Guild building that appears in the Imperial City in Arena be the Arcane University? Sure it doesn't look like the Arcane University from Oblivion, but the Imperial Palace in Arena doesn't really look like White-Gold Tower either, even though they're meant to be the same building. 24.167.247.114 05:27, 28 December 2019 (GMT)
Imperial University[edit]
Claiming that the Arcane University and the Imperial University are the same institution is baseless speculation, as no source ever states such. Rather, it has been made very clear that the Arcane University deals only with magical affairs, while the Imperial University, as seen by the various books published by its scholars, is focused on worldly subjects instead (for example: literature and history, zoology, religion and culture, biology). I suggest that this article be purged of Imperial University content and it be relegated to its own article. -ColovianHastur (talk) 22:30, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
