Lore talk:Sithis (book)
After some research, I have come to find that [AE HERMA MORA ALTADOON PADHOME LKHAN AE AI] has the possible meanings of:
-Hidden knowledge that is the weapon of change, Lorkhan that is I.
-Knowledge weapon Padomay; Lorkhan and I.
-Fate weapon Padomay; Lorkhan and I.
-Knowledge is the weapon of Change; Lorkhan is I.
<Where [Padomay] = Change ; [Lorkhan] = The being that created Nirn (ie. the world) ; [AE] = is ; and [Herma Mora] = Hidden Knowledge >
The last of the four 'transliterations' being the most widely accepted/appreciated.
The book Sithis basically states that "Knowledge is power" and that (if the things I've gathered are to be correct) in order to eliminate your enemy, you must become your enemy by learning of their 'ways' (such as schedule, job, eating habits, etc). Also, by eliminating your enemy, you effectively change the world, and by changing it, you create a new world/reality (the new world being exactly the same as the old, save one less occupant). Thus, a less literal translation could be...
[Hidden Knowledge is the weapon of Change; The being that created the world is I]
...sending allusions of Mephala (whom oversees the 'Webs' of the Fates, or of the world, as it were), as well as implying that, through Change, one creates the world by the use of Mephala's web, as every change causes a reaction. (Does that make sense?)
In other words, through the use of 'hidden knowledge' of your enemy, you can use it to cause a change (the change being your enemy's demise) in the web, or the reality of the world, thus making you as the 'Creator' of the world through said change, simply by eliminating one of the 'occupants' of the world. The book uses this line in order to try and 'convert' people into worshiping Sithis. It does so by explaining that, by worshiping Him, as well as by joining in on (and creating) the murders committed in His name, one can become an active member of the present world, as well as a 'creator' of a future one. A powerful proposition indeed...
Sites I've used to come to this conclusion (although, to tell the truth, I've forgotten what conclusion I was getting at, or allegedly came to):

Feel free to debate and/or berate this rough translation. Also, it's rather late, so forgive me if there are non sequitur places in the above text. I've read over it to see if there exists places where the logic in my mind didn't get typed, but my brain is going numb, so there are bound to be stretches and/or lapses in logic; forgive them. Do point them out, however.

- How about "Knowledge is the weapon of Change (and) I am its Agent"? This would very roughly parallel the syntax of the Shahadah, and a lot of Kirkbride's work does use paraphrases from real-world religions, although I haven't noticed any other Islamic parallels in particular. Lkhan could be Wielder or something else as we're talking about a weapon (my version was Lorkhan as the Agent of Change), but something like this to me seems the strongest interpretation.

Link to Padomay vs Anu[edit]
I don't think that the current link of "this nothing" to Padomay makes any sense. The "stasis" revered by the Altmer, which spawned Anui-el and the Aedra, is Anu, and that's precisely what is being referred to as "nothing" here. (Yes, Anu is called "Anu the Everything". But whoever wrote this book obviously takes the opposite view, that Anu/Anuiel/stasis are "nothing", and Padomay/Sithis/change is create everything.) Quantheory (talk) 05:03, 21 May 2014 (GMT)
