Quest-Related Events[edit]
Tournament of the Heart[edit]
Getting Started[edit]
If spoken to before the quest is started:
- "How could my mother do this? She should have known better, I'm not some prize!"
Aurelia can be found outside the tourney grounds with Isobel Veloise, who is trying to console her:
- Isobel Veloise: "Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll figure something out. I always do."
If the quest has been started with Lord Remard DeFulley, it's possible to talk to Aurelia before talking to Isobel.
- "I don't know what I'd do without Isobel."
If you choose to help Isobel and before you choose to pursue a trial:
- "You'll help Isobel in the tourney? Oh, you are the dearest person! I don't know what I'd do without her."
After speaking to Isobel:
- "You're going to help us? The Eight bless you!"
Speaking to her:
- "I am going to have one more go at convincing my mother … excuse me, the knight commander … to see reason.
Making a promise like that for me, what was she thinking? Have you seen the other aspirants?" - Who are the other aspirants?
- "Ugh. Langley is a bore, Brelannal cares only for coin, and Snegh is an oaf.
And then there's the milksop, moribund Mortens. The less said about him, the better." - If they're that bad, why did your mother make this promise?
- "That's a complicated question to answer. The easy response is that Commander Jourvel never goes back on her word.
But it's more than that. The tourney means the world to her, and in recent years we've had fewer entrants." - She offered you up as a prize to attract interest?
- "No, no. She … she just wants me to be happy. It's expected of noble ladies on High Isle to marry for advantage. Advantage to the ladies, mind.
She thinks I'm afraid to take that step, and wanted to give me … well, a push."
Oaken Order Task[edit]
After you have retrieved the Staff of the Wild Woods from Erlibru for the Oaken Order, and if this was not your final trial, Aurelia will be waiting for you outside the grove:
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Hello? Isobel?"
- Isobel Veloise: "Aurelia! What are you doing here?"
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Don't be annoyed. I … um. Did sort of follow along."
- Isobel Veloise: "I'll catch up to you. I'll want to talk to Aurelia, make sure she is all right."
Speaking with Aurelia, she will apologize for coming:
- "I'm sorry to follow you both here. I just … wish there was something more I could do.
I'll be ever so grateful if you can get me out of this." - We're on our way. We just finished the Oaken trial.
- "Ah! That's excellent news! It was dreadful sitting around back at the castle.
Everyone was giving me these pitying looks, and I just can't get into another shouting match with mother." - If we don't succeed, do you really think you'll have to get married?
- "There are many aspirants on the island that might release me from my mother's promise … but none in the tourney this year.
Brelannal, Mortens, and Langley all see me as too great a prize to give up." - What advantage would marrying you give them?
- "Langley is as shallow as a tidepool. He just values me for my looks. Brelannal doesn't see a woman when she looks at me, just a big stack of coins.
And Mortens, my goodness. That man needs to be handed a partner on a platter."
- "There are many aspirants on the island that might release me from my mother's promise … but none in the tourney this year.
- Why did your mother make this promise?
- "Isn't that the question of the hour. I thought we'd settled this idea of her arranging something for me years ago. But … well. She cares about me, dearly.
I want to believe this is a combination of her heroic bravado and her affection for me."
- "Isn't that the question of the hour. I thought we'd settled this idea of her arranging something for me years ago. But … well. She cares about me, dearly.
Order of the Albatross Task[edit]
During the Order of the Alabtross trial, you will need to retrieve a spare key to the Navire Catacombs, when you enter the Knights Wing of the castle, you will find Aurelia there:
- "Oh mother. How could you do this to me?"
You have the option of asking her for advice:
- "Thank you for assisting Isobel. I'm so grateful to you both.
Aspirant Mortens came by not that long ago and told me he already had a honeymoon trip planned! The audacity!" - Isobel and I are trying to enter the catacombs. But we can't find a key.
- "Oh! One of the other knights probably took it, or hid it. Cheating! Isobel will not like that.
Hmm. One of my mother's aides might have one. It's good she sent you to ask, though. Best she avoids the knight's wing for now." - Why is that?
- "She and I have been friends since we were very young. Knowing Izzy, she'll want to avoid even rumors she appealed to my mother for help.
I'd start by asking Dame Hendra. Nilsmon might have a key as well." - Thanks, Aurelia.
- "Oh! One of the other knights probably took it, or hid it. Cheating! Isobel will not like that.
- Are you here to talk to your mother?
- "I'm trying to muster up the courage. We've been fighting quite a bit.
I made Isobel promise not to say anything. I didn't want her jeopardizing her place in the tourney." - Can't the commander just admit she made a mistake?
- "You must be new to High Isle. My mother is Dame Jourvel, Knight Commander! She has never, in all her illustrious career, gone back on her word. Not once.
She offered my hand in marriage. And by the gods, her honor means she won't unoffer it." - Surely for her daughter she could make an exception?
- "Apparently not. And here I am, working up the nerve. Mostly pacing.
I know Isobel can win the tourney…but I can't sit idly by, either. Ugh!"
- "I'm trying to muster up the courage. We've been fighting quite a bit.
Speaking to her again:
- "Good luck finding that key!"
If you speak with Nilsmon Booklover, he will ask you to give Aurelia his poem for the key. If you agree to do it, you go back to Aurelia:
- "Hello again! Did you manage to find that key?"
- Actually, I need to give you this poem to get the key. It was a weird conversation.
- "A poem for me, who …? Oh. This is from Nilsmon, isn't it?
Every one of the tourney aspirants is after me, and I have a bookish Nord sending me poetry. This day is …. I've had better." - He said he'd give me a key to the catacombs if you read his note.
- "Gross. All right, since it's for Isobel. I'm sure it's yet another ode to my hair or face or something.
Tell him I blushed prettily and said I would read it later, when I'm alone. Good luck."
Afterwards:
- "Oh dear. I think he's just over there."
After handing over the poem:
- "I am sure Nilsmon is hovering around somewhere. Tell him I took his poem to read. Later.
He's sent me an entire recital's worth of odes. Heaping praise upon my various features and body parts. Silly man."
Speaking with Aurelia after obtaining a key:
- "Good luck in the catacombs. And tell Isobel to be careful."
Three Trials Completed[edit]
Once you have completed all three trials, you can meet with Isobel at the tourney grounds, she will be with Aurelia:
- "Isobel, you've saved me! I'd better go and take my place. I promised mother I wouldn't embarrass her."
Speaking to her:
- "Please tell me you've good news. I saw Sir Langley stomping around in a temper.
He's got a whopper of a bruise too. I do hope my Isobel didn't punch him. She's not usually the punching sort, but he is such a … well. A ninny!"
With all three trophies presented, you can witness Isobel being knighted:
- Knight Commander Jourvel: "Aspirant Veloise, claiming all three trophies makes you the Champion of the Sapphire Tourney. Come. You have earned a boon from your commander."
- <Isobel kneels before Knight Commander Jourvel.>
- Knight Commander Jourvel: "From this day forward, you are a Knight of High Isle. Be brave, courteous, loyal and act with honor. Arise, Dame Isobel Veloise!"
- Isobel Veloise: "Lord Commander, I know what my boon will be. You may know, as well. Please release Aurelia from the promise you made."
- Isobel Veloise: "Allow her to make her own choice to marry, or not, as she sees fit."
- Knight Commander Jourvel: "I cannot deny such a selfless boon. Aurelia is free to make her own choices … within reason."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Oh, thank the Eight."
- Knight Commander Jourvel: "Dame Isobel, I am deeply impressed. I wish to speak with you and your second. Find me in my office, at your convenience."
Speaking with Aurelia before leaving:
- "Mother wants to speak to you first. She never likes to be kept waiting."
You can then head back the knight's quarters in the castle and meet with Knight Commander Jourvel in her office:
- Knight Commander Jourvel: "You did well, Isobel. It seems as though your second was a great boon to you today. Second, step forward. I'd like to speak to you."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "She was amazing! I am so proud of you! Dame Isobel, what a nice ring to it!"
- Isobel Veloise: "They're far more than a mere second, commander."
Before speaking with Knight Commander Jourvel:
- "I can tell she's trying to hide it, but I think mother's happy how things turned out.
And it's all thanks to you and Isobel!"
Before speaking with Isobel:
- "I've been so tense and worried over mother's rash promise. I knew my Isobel would help make things right.
And you too, of course. Thank you a thousand times!"
Before you complete the quest with Isobel:
- "I don't know what I'd do without Isobel."
Once you have completed the quest:
- Isobel Veloise: "If you'll excuse me, I have to get my things. I want to get ready for adventure!"
- Aurelia Jourvel: "I'm sorry mother. But you didn't break your word. And I didn't get stuck having breakfast across from Mortens or Langley. Yech."
- Knight Commander Jourvel: "I think things have turned out just the way they should have. Just be ready to see Isobel less often, dear. A page has turned on our little story."
Speaking to her after the quest:
- "Isobel is so happy and excited to go off adventuring. I didn't think about her leaving me. Er, us.
Oh, but listen to me, I sound selfish. I am so happy for her! You will watch out for her won't you?" - What are your plans now, Aurelia?
- "Now that I'm no longer looking at a bleak future as some dreary knight's bride?
I haven't quite decided yet. With Isobel leaving High Isle, I think perhaps it's time I did the same myself." - You're going to travel?
- "Well, Isobel keeps encouraging me to pick up a trade or a hobby to get me out of my chambers here at the castle.
I've never considered what that might be…but now the whole world seems full of promise. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?"
The Lost Symbol[edit]
When you reach friendly rapport with Isobel, she will reveal that Aurelia had sent her a letter from Stros M'kai, saying she had been robbed of several personal possessions. This included the Veloise family signet ring, which Isobel gave to Aurelia a long time ago. After you agree to accompany Isobel, you can head to Port Hunding to meet with Aurelia.
You will find Aurelia outside the Screaming Mermaid along with one Captain Marso:
- Isobel Veloise: "There she is! Who's that with her? He looks familiar."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "I can't believe the town guard didn't want to help us."
- Captain Marso: "We'll keep looking, Lady Aurelia. I bet he's just laying low somewhere on the island."
Talk with Aurelia to see what is going on:
- "I remember you! You helped Isobel during the Sapphire Tourney.
You do seem to catch me at my worst, I must say." - Isobel got your letter. Are you all right? / Isobel got your letter. Were you injured?
- "I'm not hurt, no. Izzy must have told you what happened. I came here with a painter friend, Kiv Lindres, and I thought our rooms were burgled a few days ago.
Well, it turns out … Kiv was the thief. He'd been after my jewelry from the start." - How did you find out Kiv was the thief?
- "Something just felt off. I asked a waitress about him, and she said Kiv was well known as a swindler.
I went to his room to confront him and we tussled. In fact, I tore his travel bag and one of my earrings fell out! Then he took off running." - What did he manage to steal besides your earrings?
- "Nothing truly valuable, but Isobel gave me that ring with her family crest all those years ago.
I know it's important to her, and I really wanted to get it back. When I went to the town guard, they just laughed at me!" - Isobel and I will get it back.
After you speak with Aurelia, you can listen to their conversation:
- Isobel Veloise: "I cannot believe you lost that ring, Aurelia. Hello Captain Marso. Funny to see you here."
- Captain Marso: "Good to see you, Isobel. I know you're upset, but the thief may still be on the island. Perhaps more stolen goods fell from his bag as he ran?"
- Isobel Veloise: "That's a great idea. If he dropped more things as he ran, we could use the trail to track him."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Yes, go and see. Maybe he dropped the ring and it's just sitting in the street somewhere."
Speaking with Aurelia before you start tracking Kiv:
- "Kiv was quite courteous, right up until he robbed me. I very much hope you can find Isobel's ring.
After he fled the inn, perhaps he dropped some more of his … booty? Maybe you could track him that way."
Eventually, you will track Kiv to the docks, where you will learn from one of the dockworkers that Kiv jumped on a ship to Seyda Neen in Vvardenfell. At this point, Aurelia will meet you on the docks:
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Oh no! He got away! Isobel, I'm so sorry!"
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Are you going after that scoundrel?"
- Isobel Veloise: "Yes, thanks to my extremely kind companion here. Aurelia … what am I going to do with you?"
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Good luck to you both!"
Speaking with Aurelia before you leave:
- "I feel terrible about how this has all turned out. I do hope you go after him."
You will end up traveling around Tamriel, meeting more of the people Kiv Lindres conned until you catch up to him and retrieve the signet ring.
A Mother's Request[edit]
You will find Aurelia taken hostage by pirates after getting involved in trying to uncover the reason why the signet ring was sought after. You will hear off in the distance:
- "Help! Hey, help!"
As you get closer, you'll hear more of her cries for help:
- "Help! Hurry up!"
Eventually you will see her tied up and she will be relieved to see both you and Isobel:
- "Isobel! Oh, I never been so happy to see you. Quick, untie me!"
Once you untie Aurelia, Captain Marso will arrive and you can listen to their conversation:
- Captain Marso: "Aurelia! Thank the gods. Are you all right?"
- Aurelia Jourvel: "I'm here Marso! And I'm fine. Thanks to Isobel and her friend."
- <Turns to Isobel.>
- Aurelia Jourvel: "I don't know how you found us, but I'm so glad you did! I have so much to tell you!"
- Isobel Veloise: "Aurelia, your mother reached out to me. She's worried sick."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Oh don't worry about mother. I've been on a quest! And I've learned so much!"
After you have freed Aurelia, you can talk with her:
- "I never got a chance to thank you after Stros M'Kai. And here you are, riding to my rescue once again."
- Your mother was worried. She asked us to look for you.
- "I know, I acted quickly. But listen, I have so much to say.
After the … problems with Kiv, I had a long conversation with mother. She really helped me to understand how badly someone could bungle things with that signet." - Captain Marso mentioned you had people looking into the thief?
- "I did! You don't spend your life as the knight commander's daughter without learning the value of a good scribe.
I managed to stop most of Kiv's schemes with a few letters, but he withdrew some money from an account in Northpoint." - And that's why you were going to the village?
- "Quite correct! Marso and I were attacked! Isn't that a good sign? We're close to something here, I know it.
I'm sure mother would rather I go rushing home. But I caused this problem. And I want to see it fixed." - I'll talk to Isobel.
Talking with her again before Isobel:
- "Please, won't you talk to Izzy for me? I know she'll listen to you."
After you have spoken with Isobel:
- "I just know that Marso and I can find something. We just have to spend a bit more time together in Rivenspire."
Once you have completed the quest:
- "I'm sorry I worried you, Izzy. Don't fret, though. Marso and I will rest up at an inn. And then it's back to the investigation!"
Speaking to her after:
- "Thank you for talking to Isobel. I know how this seems. But I truly believe we're close to finding something here.
And don't worry, I'll write to my mother. If I don't, she'll send half the knightly orders after me."
The Princess Detective[edit]
When you travel to Fell's Run to meet with Aurelia and Captain Marso, you will find a worried Aurelia talking with Ennic Fenvale.
- Ennic Fenvale: "I just confirmed it, dear child. He's there. I know it."
- Aurelia Veloise: "All right, we have to organize … by the Divines, Izzy! I'm so glad to see you!"
Speak with her to see what is going on:
- "I'm so grateful you've come … even if I was a bit of a beef-wit the last time you saw me.
I'm worried sick. Captain Marso has been taken captive." - Are you all right? Your mother was worried when your letters stopped arriving.
- "I'm fine, I'm fine.
Captain Marso and I were following up on that criminal conspiracy we uncovered in Northpoint. You remember, Kiv Lindres stole Isobel's signet ring, and managed to cause her family some trouble." - I remember. Did you discover what happened?
- "Yes! Kiv owed money to someone named Vetitia Marcott. She's part of a minor noble family here in Rivenspire. Apparently they were a part of King Ranser's traitorous army during that terrible civil war."
- What happened to Captain Marso?
- "Marso went to meet an informant, to gather one final piece of evidence, and some brigands working for Vetitia snapped him up.
That … witch sent me a letter demanding I leave Rivenspire and abandon the investigation, or Marso would die." - Do you know where he's being held?
- "My friend here is a talented mage. He used a seeking spell to find a um … keepsake Marso has with him.
He's being held in Obsidian Scar, that horrible dungeon to the west. I was just about to organize a search party. Please … will you help him?" - We'll find him, Aurelia.
You and Isobel agree to rescue him:
- Isobel Veloise: "We'll go find your Captain, Aurelia. Just stay here, stay safe."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "I'm so glad you came. I feel better already, just knowing you're going after Marso."
You can talk to Aurelia again to ask more questions:
- "Captain Marso and I have grown … very close, while investigating here in Rivenspire.
Obsidian Scar is a terrible place, but I know if anyone can find him it's you two." - Is there anything else you can tell me?
- "Of course, ask me anything. I'll help however I can."
- Can you remind me where Obsidian Scar is?
- "Just west of Lorkrata Ruins. The Scar is home to a group of orcs called the Oathbound.
From the description of his attackers, it sounds like Vetitia is paying them to hold Marso. For the moment." - Why hold him at Obsidian Scar?
- "I'm not sure, but I believe her family has some kind of political aspiration. Maybe she's reluctant to kill him outright?
My hope is, that means Marso is safe … right up until she has no use for him anymore."
- "Just west of Lorkrata Ruins. The Scar is home to a group of orcs called the Oathbound.
- Why did this Marcott woman kidnap Captain Marso?
- "I think we did … well. Too good a job. We set out to discover what happened to the money stolen from Isobel's family.
Marso and I found a number of leads, which took us practically to the Marcott family front door." - Too good a job?
- "Well, um. Neither of us have done this before? So we weren't as subtle about our investigation as we probably should have been.
It wouldn't have been hard at all for Vetitia to learn who was asking about her family."
- "I think we did … well. Too good a job. We set out to discover what happened to the money stolen from Isobel's family.
- This isn't the first time I've had to save someone from Obsidian Scar. (Appears if you completed Foul Deeds in the Deep)
- "Your knowledge of the strange and dangerous locales of Tamriel is truly breathtaking. I know why Isobel likes spending time with you.
What happened the last time you were there?" - I helped a woman named Lashgikh swear vengeance on the murderers that killed her husband.
- "Hmm. Sounds like that rescue attempt didn't go so well.
At least you know the lay of the land. Hopefully that will help you find Marso."
- "Your knowledge of the strange and dangerous locales of Tamriel is truly breathtaking. I know why Isobel likes spending time with you.
After rescuing Captain Marso, you head back to town. However when you arrive back in town, Ennic Fenvale will run out of the inn yelling "they" took Aurelia. Ennic will tell you that a group lead by Vetitia, snatched Aurelia and took her towards the Ayleid ruins northeast of town, she was fighting them all the way.
As you approach the ruins, you will hear Aurelia yelling at her captors:
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Just you wait, you beef-witted sandpiper! My friends will find me!"
- Isobel Veloise: "We have to be close."
Vetitia Marcott will be with the tied up Aurelia, and you and Isobel will need to kill her. Once you have freed Aurelia, Captain Marso will have caught up to you, you can stand back and listen to them talk:
- Isobel Veloise: "Thank Stendarr you're all right."
- <Captain Marso appears.>
- Captain Marso: "Aurelia!"
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Marso! Oh, Izzy thank you! I knew you would find him!"
- Isobel Veloise: "I am truly glad that both of you are safe. But it's dangerous out here. Move your butts."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "She's right. Marso … let's go home. Back to High Isle."
- Captain Marso: "Absolutely, sweetheart. Let's go home."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Izzy, we'll stay at the Ancient Anchor. You and your friend should come see us when you're back in Gonfalon Bay."
- <Aurelia and Marso walk away together.>
You can Isobel can meet the new couple at the Ancient Anchor in Gonfalen Bay. You will find Aurelia and Marso on the same floor as the Knight Commander:
- Captain Marso: "Aurelia! Isobel is here! I'm so glad you came."
- <Aurelia comes out from a nearby room to stand beside Marso.>
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Indeed I am! It will be a welcome break from mother lecturing me."
- Knight Commander Jourvel: "Aurelia, I am just a room away. Stow your sass."
Aurelia will want to speak with you first:
- "My friend! May I count you as my friend? You're very dear to Isobel, and she's very dear to me so … ahem.
I'm very glad you both could make it." - We're glad to be here. What did you want to talk about?
- "Marso and I have been talking with mother. We also paid a visit to Lord and Lady Veloise.
Don't give me that look over their shoulder, Izzy. Yes, I've been talking to your parents. It's all settled." - What's all settled?
- "I owned up to my folly with the signet ring. Izzy's parents were very kind, especially after we explained all we did to resolve things.
We also wanted their permission. Marso insisted if I was to sail with him, they had to know." - So you'll be sailing with Captain Marso?
- "I will! Our own little adventures, perhaps more mysteries to investigate? In any case, none of this would have been possible without you and Isobel.
Marso and I are so happy. From the bottom of my heart … thank you." - Congratulations, Aurelia.
After speaking to her, her mother thinks Isobel is such a good influence:
- "Mother says Isobel has been a good influence. I guess there's something to that."
Speaking with Aurelia again before Isobel:
- "Hmm. Izzy has that expression on her face. She has something to say.
She always gets a little ruffled, where emotions, especially happy ones, come into play."
If you exit out of conversation with Isobel and before turning in the quest, Aurelia will say:
- "Do you remember how angry I was when mother promised my hand in marriage? And just think. If that hadn't happened, Isobel would never have met you.
And I'd have never met Marso! I suppose the Divines really do work in mysterious ways."
Once you have completed the quest, Isobel will speak to Aurelia:
- Isobel Veloise: "Aurelia, I hope you know we're here for you if you need us again. But I hope our days of coming to your rescue are at an end."
- Aurelia Jourvel: "Hah, me too. Same to you, Dame Veloise. You two are traveling all over, so you have no excuse not to meet up with us from time to time."
- Isobel Veloise: "Deal. Look after Marso, all right? And Stendarr keep you safe, Aurelia Jourvel."
You can then speak with Aurelia some more:
- "For so long the castle, my family, and Isobel were my entire world.
Now look at me. Aurelia Jourvel, merchant sailor! Funny how time and tides will erode every beach, isn't it?" - What's your first port of call?
- "I believe Summerset is the plan. Marso has a run set for Shimmerene.
And then we thought we'd take in the sights. I've seen some paintings, the High Elven lands look simply enchanting!" - How long do you think you'll sail with Marso?
- "Oh, who knows? But I have a sneaking suspicion it will be for a good long while.
Oh, Divines slap my hand, I don't want to curse us before our real adventure's even begun." - Take care of each other.
- "We will. And you take care of Isobel, all right? You've been very good for her. I can tell, she's more comfortable in her own skin. A better version of herself.
Just don't tell her I said that. Don't want Dame Veloise to get a fat head, now do we?" - Good luck, Aurelia.
