Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Standing outside the city of Orcrest is Peryite cultist Filbert Cienne. He's waiting for his friend, Marthine, who went inside the city to proselytize to the victims of the Knahaten Flu about the glory of Peryite. He never came back and Filbert is starting to become worried. He asks you to find Marthine. When you accept, he notes that Marthine is clumsy and is constantly dropping things because of an ailment affecting his fingers. Needless to say, you can probably find him by looking for a trail of lost belongings. With this knowledge, enter the city of Orcrest. You'll find yourself in the abandoned Marketplace District. The dead stalk the streets and diseased harpies have taken to nesting here.
The first clue you'll find as to the clumsy cultist's presence in the city is Marthine's Dagger, which is stuck in the ground on the west side of the Marketplace District. Ahead of the dagger is the entrance to the Lower City. Head up the stairs into the next district to look for more clues. Marthine's Candle is between two groups of diseased Khajiit and Flame Atronachs close to the entrance of the district. Not far north of the candle, Marthine's Chalice waits on the ground near a group of Flame Atronachs and Imps, who've set an abandoned house alight. Turn left at the corner where you find the chalice and you'll find a camp full of people who have survived the outbreak. Dar'ava, Khamasha, and Zoadran came to the city when a merchant asked them to guard his caravan. When the flu broke out, he panicked and got himself killed, and now they're trapped here. Speak with Dar'ava to see if she knows anything about Marthine's whereabouts.
As it turns out, Marthine came this way. Dar'ava and her cohorts locked him in the holding cell in the back of their camp because he kept raving about the "virtues" of skin rashes and trying to mingle with the infected. She says you can speak with him if you'd like, but advises you not to breathe too close to him. Speak with Marthine, who is locked in a cage. (See bug list below.) When you tell him Filbert sent you to find him, Marthine insists that he wants to find proof that Peryite is responsible for the Knahaten Flu, or at least something he can twist to make it sound like he was. Marthine believes this will help him and Filbert with their efforts in recruiting new members for their budding Peryite Cult. You should find some supplies for the survivors while you look for Marthine's "evidence." They may be willing to let Marthine go if you do. More importantly, it would be a nice gesture, as they're running low on food, medical supplies, and water anyway.
First Signs of the Flu can be found along the side of the street in the middle of the Lower City. This scroll details the beginning of the flu outbreak. A crate of Supplies for Survivors can be found near the entrance to the Upper City.
A Letter to Peryite can be found in the Upper City, on a bench by the fountain at the northernmost section of the district. This letter is located in front of the west wing of the large manor at the top of the map. A barrel of supplies can be found at the eastern side of the district, on the deck of a house behind Alchemist Zhininda. You can defeat her and loot the supplies afterwards, or sneak behind her onto the deck and steal the supplies. However you get them, your next step is to head east towards Red Senche Alley. (You can check the map of Orcrest to see a breakout of the four districts.)
A third cache of supplies can be found in Red Senche Alley, in a large, open courtyard on the western side of the district. A Flu Victim's Note is in a corridor off the right side of the main road in the southern portion of the district. This note is close to the Market District. When you have all the supplies and "proof" of Peryite's involvement in the outbreak, return to the survivor's camp. Speak with Dar'ava and give her the supplies you found. She will give you the Cage Key. Now head into the Holding Cell and unlock the cage for Marthine. He'll thank you before leaving. Follow him out and escape the city with the survivors. Once you're outside Orcrest, speak with Marthine for your reward.
Notes[edit]
- The quest markers for gathering supplies and information will not all show up simultaneously, and they will send you through the sewers to get them, as a shortcut to other districts of the city. You can use the sewers this way (and pick up the skyshard as you pass through!), but you don't have to. It's simpler to follow a clockwise circuit through the city and come back through the sewers.
Bugs[edit]
- When directed by Dar'ava to speak with Marthine in the jail cell, there will be no icon on the door of the jail to indicate you need to go inside, and the quest marker will float in the sky, making it difficult to tell where he is. ?
- Looking at your map, you'll see a quest door icon that shows you where to go.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
