Avatar: The Last Airbender

Count Calantius is painted as the face and commander of a large-scale war. However, when you meet him, he's rather inept and only cares about his pet bear, Burnbiscuit, while his ruthless and insubordinate generals are actually the ones running things. This is very similar to the Earth King from ATLA, who is presumed to be the commander-in-chief of the army, when in actuality he is inept and clueless (not even knowing about the massive war) and only cares about his pet bear, Bosco, while the ruthless Dai Li are actually the ones running things.

There is also a similarity between the resort lakes of Lake Olo and Lake Laogai ("Ever visit Lake Olo to the east? It's a favorite relaxation spot for nobles and our wealthy citizens. Even Count Calantius is known to frequent the location." + "Joo Dee, the Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai. [...] Oh, I simply took a short vacation to Lake Laogai, out in the country. It was quite relaxing.") found to the east in relation to both walled cities. This isn't as deep of a reference as the aforementioned one, but it does help reinforce the Avatar connections Calantius has. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 19:31, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

How to Train Your Dragon

The default name of the Online:Twilight Bantam Guar being "beakless" as well as the dark coloring scheme, seem to be a reference to the dragon Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. Analeah Oaksong (talk) 06:20, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

Tolkein's Elvish Langauge

Two fish found in the Summerset Isles, the Quicksilver Lingwe and the Lingweloce, appear to be named after the LOTR Elvish word for Fish, lingwë.

One Ring to Rule Them All

The Mannimarco's Master Key for the Haven of the Five Companions mentions that Mannimarco declined to have a key to the Haven, but forged a fifth key in secret to grant access to everything in the haven. This is a pretty obvious reference to the One Ring from Lord of the Rings, which was forged in secret to have power over all other rings. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 23:23, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

Casino

During the quest Into the Vice Den, Hadran will say "For our little operation to work, everybody's gotta watch everybody else. The dealers watch the players, the game bosses watch the dealers, and Azum watches the managers. Me? I watch everybody. Shakespeare

At the top of the entrance to Zaintiraris, you can see a skeleton holding a skull pointed toward itself, which is a reference how Hamlet holds the skull of Yorick in Hamlet.

In his Auridon stage performance, Jester King Emeric will say "My kingdom for a scroll of frost!," a reference to the line, "A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!" from the play Richard III by William Shakespeare. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 06:31, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
