Training Beyond Level 70[edit]

Have you tried to train destruction at Faralda beyond the level of 70? When I try, she takes my money, but my destruction skill stays at 70. I assume this is a bug, I am playing the PC version, can anybody please confirm? Jackie78 18:40, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

I tried training with her at destruction levle 93 and she said that she has nothing else to teach me. — Unsigned comment by 93.108.214.87 (talk) at 05:01 on 22 November 2011
Add a spell inventory. The page for Wuunferth the Unliving has one for an example. — Unsigned comment by 173.18.99.191 (talk) at 09:56 on 7 December 2011
Master trainers train only to 90, i've had this come up with lots of times before i realised it was actually a thing, it's not very obvious while playing the game, unless you look at the wiki pages for trainers. 216.58.11.228 07:17, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Just trained with her from 85-90. Cost 4300 each session — Unsigned comment by 107.39.77.39 (talk) at 07:16 on 24 January 2012
Never noticed this bug before.... tried training from 75+, she takes the money, it adds to the total of 5 trainings per level, but does not advance destruction. I swear in another character file I've trained with her at 80+ with no issues. Don't know what's causing the bug. 124.191.60.179 17:26, 15 March 2014 (GMT)

Glitch?[edit]

I can't find Faralda anywhere, including the front gate she usually guards. Any advice? — Unsigned comment by 71.131.176.238 (talk) at 02:21 on 30 November 2011

I saw her wandering around the college after I had joined the guild. Chris3145 02:28, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
@Chris3145: I have added a note on her location. Did you look for her there? Ernixaerna 16 December 2011

Another Glitch - PC[edit]

I'm currently at 96 Destruction. I noticed before hitting 75 destruction that Faralda was an expert trainer. Now I find that she is supposed to be the master trainer as well as the one who gives the quest Destruction Ritual Spell. I suppose I could workaround this by setting the quest stage and giving myself the book? — Unsigned comment by 69.231.202.5 (talk) at 00:11 on 15 December 2011

Ambitions[edit]

Don't you think there should be a note of her abition to become Master Wizard? She never says it straightly, but it's quite obvious, as she keeps talking about Mirabelle being such a great Master Wizard and thet she's definitely going to become the Archmage, and wonders 'who succeds Mirabelle'. After completing 'The Eye of Magnus' she seems quite disappointed that Tolfdir has become the Master Wizard. — Unsigned comment by 79.162.218.219 (talk) on 15 April 2012

This seems too speculative to put on the article, unless there's something more to back it up. eshetalk 16:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, I've recently heard her saying something like "Don't you think I'd make for a wonderful Master-Wizard? Maybe even Archmage someday?" Those probably are not her exact words, bu I'll try to repeat that. — Unsigned comment by 178.56.226.164 (talk) at 13:48 on 6 July 2012
From the CSList: "Don't you think I'd make a wonderful Master Wizard? Maybe even Arch-Mage someday?" Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 14:07, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Exactly, just heard that again. Certainly enough to confirm this. — Unsigned comment by 79.162.218.176 (talk) at 16:09 on 7 July 2012

Attacked by Faralda[edit]

I just had an odd occurrence where Faralda became hostile due to a small (40 gold) bounty I had acquired for destroying a group of Thalmor escorting a nord prisoner near Winterhold (one of the World Interactions). No other member of the College became hostile except her, and I was completely unable to get her to stop. I had to reload a save from after I had killed the Thalmor, then go to Winterhold and pay off my bounty. After that, she was fine. Can anybody tell me why she would behave this way? --Xyzzy 03:38, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

I am having this problem too, except my Winterhold bounty is 0. My total lifetime bounty is 0 too. I have no idea what could be causing it. Dkamm65 17:33, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Same here, as part of a series of weird events. I was testing J'zargo's flame cloak spells down in the Midden and Aranea, my follower, began to behave oddly. Of course I was trying to keep plenty of distance between her and myself when I used J'zargo's scrolls, because the damned things are bugged and explode, but she insisted on running right into me and getting herself hurt by the flames.... and so of course attacked me after she'd done that half a dozen times. Idiot. So I had to kill her, but this happened down in the Midden with absolutely no witnesses and no notice of a bounty. I exited the Midden via the lower exit to the coast, climbed the cliff, got back to Winterhold....and was promptly jumped by two Winterhold guards for reasons that remain obscure. I hadn't killed or hurt anyone there, and in fact I was Thane of the scuzzy place, but none of that did me any good. OK. Killed the two guards, and was told my bounty of 1040 had been lifted when the last witness died. Then I went back over the bridge to the College, since I had been down in the Midden looking for the last of the books for the Illusion Master Spell quest. I ran into J'zargo and a couple of other fellow students; they acted the same as they always do. Found the Illusion trainer Drevis Meloran; he began to sell me the books, no problem. At which point, a lunatic Faralda comes howling in for my blood, tossing lightning bolts left and right. I put myself on god mode and tried to discover why. No clue. Although she can be removed and brought back with disable/enable and kill/resurrect, when she comes back she's just as mindlessly hostile as she was before, even if you've used the console to set your relationship rank to her to 3 or 4 and she's been made a member of your faction. Several other of the College faculty were watching us fight, and at first none of them joined to help Faralda. A bit later, the Chief Wizard for some incomprehensible reason started throwing fireballs at me (at that time, I was not fighting back at all and I wasn't even facing her). On the other hand, Drevis Neloran and the Restoration master Colette on the upper floor never turn hostile and will always trade with you. But it's a complete pain in the ass; it looks as if I'm going to have to Disable these two clowns for good and then force the Mage's Guild quest to conclude via console if I want to go on. 174.6.51.17 09:53, 3 February 2014 (GMT)
If waiting 10 days is a bother, you can just go to winterhold and do anything illegal to earn a bounty (i pickpocketed the guard), and immediately pay it off. I tried that and it worked for me. Why winterhold's bounty glitch might be what's happening could be because of an orichalcum ingot you would have to nab from the inn.

Faralda Missing?[edit]

Okay, so I've gotten as far as Hitting the Books in the College of Winterhold questline (but have yet to complete it), on one of my new saves on Skyrim for the PS3. For several times I have gone to visit Faralda to gain training in Destruction magic, but for the past few visits, I have been unable to find her ANYWHERE. I know she's essential, so there's no chance of her being dead. I've looked for her at her usual places - be it the entrance to the bridge during the day time, to her room in the Hall of Attainment during the evenings - on multiple occasions. I have even gone beyond that as to search everyone's rooms in the Hall of Attainment, the Arch-Mage's quarters, the Hall of Elements and the Arcaneum at multiple times of the day, but to no prevail have I been able to find her whatsoever. Can somebody please help with this, and as I mentioned earlier, I'm playing Skyrim on the PS3 version. Thanks Helenaannevalentine 07:05, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Could she have fallen off the bridge?--Skyrimplayer 12:49, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Faralda sleeps in the Hall of Countenance, not the Hall of Attainment. Have you checked there? Merey 14:05, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
My bad, my PS3 auto selects phrases I have used before, but yes I have looked there as well. But I finally found her casually walking around the main 'courtyard' area for some particular reason. Helenaannevalentine 18:38, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Woman is tall![edit]

Is Faralda's height stat (whatever that might be) set to be unusually high in the Creation Kit or something? Because I swear my Breton (who is average height) only comes up to Faralda's neck. Swk3000 (talk) 18:56, 18 May 2013 (GMT)

No, like all female Altmer her height is 1.08x your in-game height. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:09, 18 May 2013 (GMT)
Huh. I'll have to find another female Altmer and see if they're the same height. Probably are, but I've been spending a lot of time at the College of Winterhold, and I just noticed the height difference for the first time with Faralda. Swk3000 (talk) 19:20, 18 May 2013 (GMT)

Magelight[edit]

I'm pretty sure that she also knows the Magelight spell. During the introduction, she tries to cast it on the magic pool things on the bridge. If you manage to place an NPC (I used a frost atronach) between her and the pool, you'll see that it has the same effect like a player-casted magelight on the NPC, which proves that she indeed casts magelight instead some kind of scripted spell. The magelight spell should be at least added to her spell list, although she doesn't use it outside of the introduction. --178.1.201.203 03:57, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

Healing Hands or Heal Other?[edit]

I'm sure that Faralda asked my character to cast Healing Hands on her. It was definitely a spell he already had rather than one he had to buy, and I've never managed to get Heal Other until I've reached the College of Winterhold. The article [First Lessons] also says Healing Hands. But this page suggests it's Heal Other. Which is right? Can people check? baratron (talk) 22:55, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

I can guarantee that it's healing hands; I'll go change it now.--69.136.59.17 23:32, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

Faralda wont let me take the test[edit]

So I went to join the College of Winterhold. I ask to take the test, however, Faralda told me I need to be able to at least cast apprentice level spells in any school of magic. So I left and got Destruction to 25 and placed a perk in "Apprenticed Destruction". However she says the same thing. So I ultimately got ALL my magic schools up to apprenticed (even Restoration which is hard to level up) and placed a perk in each one. However, when I ask to take the test, she says the same thing, no matter what I do. I even ask for training in Destruction and Faralda told me there is nothing more she can teach me. I read somewhere that she will sell you spells, but when I talk to her, I get no option. I don't know what the issue is, but I should be able to take the test. I do have apprenticed spells, which I currently am using. My Magicka is up to 270. So I don't know what's going on, I mean I looked EVERYWHERE for this problem and only found one person who was under skilled. This is a serious bug, and I need help, please.

Also as a side note, I have all the spells Faralda asks you to cast.— Unsigned comment by Dunmerraiz (talkcontribs) at 15:28 on 08 July 2014

I'm a little confused as to what the problem is. Is the issue that she's not offering the dialogue choice to take the test, or that it's not registering when you cast the spell she asks you to cast? Did you scroll down to make sure you saw all the dialogue choices? Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 17:09, 8 July 2014 (GMT)
I thought I made it very clear. However, yes there is an option to take the test, but when I choose that option, Faralda tells me that my skills are not adequate enough. This isn't true because all of my magic skills (in EVERY magic school) are at an apprenticed level. There are even certain schools at adept level (such as Destruction that's at level 35). I have every spell that Faralda asks you to cast, and my magic is high enough. So I don't know what the problem is, but to no avail she still keeps saying the same thing. She still keeps telling me that my skills are not high enough. Please help me. --Dunmerraiz (talk) 23:51, 8 July 2014 (GMT)
This is the parameters needed for the dialogue to be offered. That, added to my personal experience of never having invested perks in those magic perks (novice/apprentice/expert) suggests that you should not have the perks before proceeding, but I'm guessing. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:10, 9 July 2014 (GMT)
I do have all those skills at apprentice level, and even before I put perks into them, she still told me I was not skilled enough. However, that being said, the weirdest thing just happened. After Faralda told me I wasn't skilled enough, I chose the option "What do you mean I'm not skilled enough?" and after her bit of dialogue, I tried asking to take the test again. Afterwards, Faralda allowed me to take the test. This is weird because she said I wasn't skilled enough, but now I am apparently. So obviously I did have the skill, but the first time I ask to take the test, it got buggy. I dunno, I'm just glad it works now.--Dunmerraiz (talk) 00:38, 9 July 2014 (GMT)

Trying to get Adept Robes of Destruction but she's not selling them yet.[edit]

I'm on the Adept level in destruction and I have been trying to get the same level robes for a while and the only piece of clothing that was adept was the hood. I want to know what level should the robes start appearing in her merchant inventory.172.7.197.63 16:33, 28 March 2015 (GMT)

Died during last College quest?[edit]

I remember in a reloaded save that she was killed by the insane Thalmor guy, but her page says she is essential. Does she lose this status at a later point in the quest line?
