Riekling spears[edit]
Just started using them. does it seem to anyone else that they give bonus archery exp? seem to be going up in lvl about 10-15 hits. my archery is 69. could be compensation for the incredible drop rate. — Unsigned comment by 24.179.66.52 (talk) at 01:18 on 7 January 2013
- I noticed that they seem to have a significantly shorter range than conventional arrows. This is contrary to what is currently written on the Bows page, where it states that the only contributing factor to a bow's range is its speed. But I tested it with a Daedric Bow and Auriel's bow, and in both cases, the spears traveled a considerably shorter distance than regular arrows did. This would be logical, since they're physically larger, and very likely heavier than normal arrows. However, their damage is equivalent to steel arrows, so aside from the novelty of shooting a giant spear at something they are kind of useless. -Trogdor — Unsigned comment by 99.141.87.48 (talk) at 03:47 on 12 February 2013
Ancient Nordic Pickaxe appearance bug on followers?[edit]
Does anyone else get this? When giving it to a follower that doesn't dual-wield properly (in my case, Derkeethus), when they sheathe their weapons the pickaxe falls to the ground, and lays at their feet. it then stays there even when they move around, and when they draw their weapons and attack they do it with the left hand empty and with the pickaxe still at their feet. This does not happen when used as an offhand weapon by the player. Ejia (talk) 08:31, 12 July 2013 (GMT)
Random ancient Nordic pickaxe[edit]
It appears that the ancient Nordic pickaxe may randomly appear in treasure chests. I found one in a chest in the Temple of Miraak (the chest on top of the hard-to-reach platform in the torture chamber), and someone added one found in a chest at Moesring Pass to the article. It also appears on leveled lists, if I'm interpreting this correctly. --Xyzzy Talk 02:36, 18 August 2013 (GMT)
- Yes, there is a chance for it to be found in four different types of chests on Solstheim, DLC2TreasExplorerLootChest, DLC2TreasDraugrChestBoss, DLC2TreasBanditChestBoss, and DLC2TreasRieklingChestBoss. The chest at Moesring Pass they refer to is the Riekling chest I linked, while the one you found is the draugr one. I've updated the article accordingly. — ABCface◥ 20:18, 20 August 2013 (GMT)
Categorization of ancient nordic pickaxe.[edit]
Although the pickaxe is a weapon (specifically a war axe) as far as the game is concerned, it is not listed on Skyrim:Weapons. Here we have the ancient nordic pickaxe listed in the Other category, which doesn't exist on the Skyrim equivalent page. If the intent is consistency between the two pages, then we should either unlist the ANP from this page, or decide where the pickaxes should be listed and put them both in the same category. I suggest listing them both in the War Axe category because that's where the game puts them. --Morrolan (talk) 01:54, 1 September 2013 (GMT)
- Since pickaxes appear under "Weapons" in your inventory, it seems appropriate to include them in the Weapons articles. As far as calling them "War axes", they aren't an axe, so I think they shouldn't be included in that section. However, having an "Other" section with just this one weapon seems odd, so I don't have a strong opinion about that. --Xyzzy Talk 03:35, 1 September 2013 (GMT)
- I think the way it's done now is exactly how it should be done. In the Skyrim namespace, we have the Specialty Gear page, which doesn't exist (and isn't needed) in the Dragonborn namespace. The ancient Nordic pickaxe is a weapon, and while it is technically a war axe, it is unique from the others listed. Not only can it not be crafted or tempered, it is not on the same leveled lists as other war axes, and has special uses other than combat. — ABCface◥ 03:40, 1 September 2013 (GMT)
- Why is specialty gear not needed in the Dragonborn namespace? Everything that is currently listed in tables in Skyrim:Armor is a specialty gear type item; looking at it now it's odd that none of the craftable armor is listed in tables there actually. --Morrolan (talk) 13:53, 1 September 2013 (GMT)

Nordic Pickaxe[edit]
Okay so, I downloaded the Dragonborn DLC not too long ago, but before I was attacked by Cultists, I was doing a different quest, so the dragonborn quest wasn't activated yet, but I suppose everything else in the dlc was, (clothes, weapons, armor, etc.) so I was just doing a quest to find something, and then I came across a bandit fort is. After I shot at a bandit, a troll came at the same time and pretty much did the rest of the work for me, so when I killed the troll I saw a chest and looted it, and instead found a Nordic pickaxe, which I didn't know existed, so I took it anyway, but I had to leave it because it weighed so much, anyway after I was just looking at the dragonborn weapons here in the UESP I decided to find the Nordic pickaxe but it says it's only found in solestheim, but I found it in Skyrim. I don't know if this is a glitch or just wrong information.— Unsigned comment by ShiveringSeb (talk • contribs) at 12:53 on 19 September 2014
Nordic Pickaxe doesn't stack?[edit]
I have 2 in my inventory, one that I found in a random chest, the other from the quest with Glover. They aren't stacking in my inventory the way other weapons do. Is this usual, or does the one from the quest with Glover have a unique ID? I don't think I've ever had more than 1 pickaxe in my inventory before, so maybe it's just a pickaxe thing... I'm on the xbox, so I can't check myself, but I thought it odd. Obax (talk) 01:43, 28 January 2015 (GMT)
- I'm seeing the same thing. The pickaxe I got from the quest doesn't stack with one I found in a random chest in Castle Karstaag Caverns. I drop them both and checked their IDs: one is "ff001045" and the other is "ff001f5e". I'll see if I can find some more to see if any of them stack or if they all get unique IDs. --Xyzzy Talk 04:28, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

- The one from Raven Rock has a unique form and editor ID, it's form ID is XX0206F2 compared to XX0398E6 for the other ones. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:31, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
