Snak gra-Bura in Chestnut Handy Stables

Snak gra-Bura is an Orc commoner who takes care of the horses at Chestnut Handy Stables outside the Imperial City. When talking to her it becomes quite clear that she did more than take care of the horses. If you have installed the Horse Armor Pack official download, she will provide horse armor and if you turn up without owning a horse she will reluctantly part with an Old Nag. She can outfit any horse you bring her with either Steel or Elven armor: the first set will be free of charge but any subsequent sets will cost you 500 gold.

With no horses left to sell, Snak is more or less unemployed at the stables; she wakes up early at 4am and starts the day with a two-hour breakfast while the other stablehands still sleep. She then heads outside and spends the entire day loitering around near the corral. At 6pm she heads back inside for another two-hour meal then wanders about until her bedtime at 10pm. When martial law is imposed during Light the Dragonfires she will remain indoors at all times.

She wears fishing waders with a pair of sack cloth sandals. She also carries a small amount of gold.

Dialogue[edit]

When you meet her for the first time she will politely introduce herself, along with her lack of services:

"Snak gra-Bura, owner and proprietor. We board horses. And... well... we don't actually sell horses. Anymore, that is."

When asked about the Imperial City, she will tell you about the missing horses and obviously lie:

Imperial City
"The Chestnut Handy Stables used to sell horses. But they're gone. Our horses. All gone. Big mystery. No idea where they went. [burp]"

If you ask her if she actually ate all the horses she will respond:

Did you...did you eat them?
"Add some onion and... wait. I almost walked into that one. No, of course not. That would be wrong. You shouldn't eat horses."

Rumors[edit]

Brielus Gawey, another worker at the Chestnut Handy Stables, will be more than happy to give you his opinion on what happens when you mix Orcs with horses:

"I'm Brielus Gawey. And no, we don't sell horses. But we do eat well. The stables are owned by an Orc. And you know... Orcs and horses."

When asked about the Imperial City, he will be a bit more direct about what's happening at the stables:

"Sure. Some folks here think horses are for riding. Then again, some of us are Orcs. Snak gra-Bura, she prefers eating stew to riding horses."

Notes[edit]

  • It seems that at one point during development, Snak gra-Bura was to be a high-ranking member of the Mages Guild rather than an ostler. A single AI package known as SnakgraBuraInLobby seems to be leftover from this. The lobby that this AI package refers to is the Arch-Mage's Lobby at the Arcane University.
    • This would've made Snak the only Orcish member of the Mages Guild to be found in Cyrodiil, as none exist in the final game.

Bugs[edit]

  • When asked if she actually ate the horses, the first sentence "Add some onion and... wait." gets skipped, only briefly appearing in the subtitles. This is due to that line not being voiced.
